Russo-Ukraine War - 23 November 2025 - Day 1369

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces are directing efforts to disrupt the execution of Russian invaders' offensive plans and exhaust their combat potential.

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 177 combat clashes.

The Russian opponent made 39 aviacíjnih strikes, dropped 102 controlled air bombs. In addition, he used 3777 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,696 shells on settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops.

In the North Slobozhansky and Kursk directions today, the Russian enemy carried out eight attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders, launched an air strike using two controlled air bombs, carried out 102 shells.
In the South Slobozhansky direction, Russian forces attacked the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk and Sinelnikove. Ukrainian units repelled three attacks, one combat confrontation is currently ongoing.
Three attacks were repelled by Ukrainian defenders in the Kupyans Триkomu direction in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka and Petropavlivka.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers stopped six attacks in the areas of the settlements of Novoyegorivka, Serednoe, Zarichne and towards the settlement of New Mir. One battle clash is still going on.
In the Slovenian direction, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled seven Russian attempts to advance in the areas in the areas of Yampol, Serebryanka, Dronivka and Sacko and Vancetti. Another combat encounter is still going on.
In the Kramators маkomu direction from the beginning of the day, the Russian opponent made two attacks in the area of Chasovoye Yar and Maysky.
In the Konstantinivka direction, the Russian occupiers today stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders 29 times near Scherbinivka, Rusiny Yar, Jablunivka, Oleksandro-Shultynog and towards Konstantinovka, Predtechiny and Sofiyivka. Defense forces repelled all enemy attacks.
Russian forces committed 55 attacks in the Pokrovsky direction. The Russian occupiers tried to advance near the settlements of Volodymyrivka, Rodinske, Chervony Lyman, Novoekonomíčne, Nikanorivka, Pokrovsk, Kotline, Udaachne, Molodetske, Dachne, Philia and towards Novopavlivka. The two clashes are still ongoing.
According to preliminary calculations, today in this direction, Ukrainian warriors eliminated 42 Russian invaders and wounded 31; destroyed 25 unmanned aircraft, three vehicles units; struck two tanks, four BPLA control points and 13 enemy personnel shelters.
In the Oleksandrivsky direction, Ukrainian units stopped 20 Russian attacks in the areas of settlements Zeleny Gai, Vorone, Sosnivka, Oleksiyivka, Verbove, Privilne and Krasnogirsk.
In the Gulyaipil direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 Russian attacks near the settlements of Zeleni Gai, Zatishya, Vysoke and towards the settlement of Pryluka.
In the Orihivsky direction, the Defense Forces repelled six Russian attacks in the areas of settlements Stepovo, Stepnogirsk and Primorsk.
In the Pridniprovsky direction, two Russian attacks in the direction of the Antonivsky Bridge ended for the Russian occupiers to no avail.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.
Units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on formations of one mechanised brigade, one air assault brigade, one assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one territorial defence brigade, and one National Guard brigade near Andreyevka, Varachino, Malaya Rybitsa (Sumy region), and Sumy.
In Kharkov direction, Russian troops hit units of one mechanised brigade and one motorised infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Ternovaya, Izbitskoye, and Vilcha (Kharkov region).
The enemy losses were up to 140 troops, 10 motor vehicles, two electronic warfare stations, and three ammunition depots.
The Zapad Group of Forces improved the tactical situation. Russian troops delivered strikes at manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade, one assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and one National Guard Brigade near Kucherovka, Petrovka, Nechvolodovka, Blagodatovka, and Kurilovka (Kharkov region).
The enemy losses were up to 220 troops, one tank, three armoured fighting vehicles including two U.S.-made HMMWV armoured vehicles, and one Canadian-made Senator armoured vehicle, 17 motor vehicles, and 11 electronic warfare stations. Four ammunition depots were destroyed.
As a result of resolute actions, units of the Yug Group of Forces liberated Petrovskoye (Donetsk People's Republic).
Russian troops hit formation of three mechanised brigades and one motorised infantry brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Platonovka, Kramatorsk, Vasyukovka, Stepanovka, and Seversk (Donetsk People's Republic).
The enemy losses were more than 225 troops, one tank, one U.S.-made MaxxPro armoured fighting vehicle, 19 motor vehicles, and two artillery guns. In addition, one Israeli-made RADA RPS-42 aerial reconnaissance radar station, four electronic warfare stations, four ammunition depots, and two materiel depots were neutralised.
The Tsentr Group of Forces' units took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian hit manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade, one mountain assault brigade, one airmobile brigade, one air assault brigade, one jaeger brigade, three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two marine brigades, one special operations brigade, one territorial defence brigade, one National Guard brigade close to Artyomovka, Toretskoye, Belitskoye, Novy Donbass, Kucherov Yar, Rodinskoye (Donetsk People's Republic), Novopavlovka, and Ivanovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).
In Krasnoarmeysk (Donetsk People's Republic), assault detachments of the 2nd Army continue to eliminate enemy encircled formations of the AFU in Tsentralny, Gornyak districts and in the western industrial area. Russian troops continue to mop up Rovnoye (Donetsk People's Republic).
Seven attacks of the 425th Assault Regiment, the 32nd Mechanised Brigade, and the 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were repelled from the area of Grishino (Donetsk People's Republic). Ukrainian troops tried to deblock their encircled group.
Up to 30 Ukrainian troops, one U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carrier, and two Kazak armoured vehicles were neutralised.
In Dimitrov (Donetsk People's Republic), assault detachments of the 51st Army continue to push the enemy out of the Vostochny, Zapadny, and southern districts of the city.
Over the past 24 hours, up to 210 troops, three armoured personnel carriers, seven armoured fighting vehicles, one field artillery gun, and four motor vehicles were neutralised.
In the Tsentr Group of Forces' area of responsibility, the enemy losses were more than 435 troops, four armoured personnel carriers including three U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carriers, and one Swedish-made Viking armoured personnel carrier, 10 armoured fighting vehicles, 12 motor vehicles, and one artillery gun.
As a result of active offensive actions, units of the Vostok Group of Forces liberated Tikhoye and Otradnoye (Dnepropetrovsk region).
Russian troops hit formations of two assault brigades and three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Varvarovka, Zatishye, Dobropolye (Zaporozhye region) and Andreyevka (Dnepropetrovsk region).
The AFU losses were up to 225 troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, 12 motor vehicles, one field artillery gun, and one electronic warfare station.
Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces delivered strikes at manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades of the AFU and one territorial defence brigade near Yurkovka, Grigorovka, Novodanilovka, Stepnogorsk (Zaporozhye region) and Tyaginka (Kherson region).
The enemy losses were up to 75 troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, 16 motor vehicles, two field artillery guns, seven electronic warfare stations, one POL depot, and two materiel depots.
Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack drones, missile troops, and artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation inflicted losses one S-300 SAM system, fuel, power, and transport infrastructure facilities that supported the Armed Forces of Ukraine as well as temporary deployment areas of the AFU and foreign mercenaries in 148 areas.
Air defence systems shot down one guided aerial bomb, one U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectile, and 140 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost: 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 97, 933 unmanned aerial vehicles, 638 anti-aircraft missile systems, 26,195 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,618 MLRS combat vehicles, 31,487 field artillery guns and mortars, 47,425 special military vehicles.
