A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.
On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to withhold the pressure of the Russian occupation troops.
So far, there have been a total of 164 combat clashes.
Today the Russian state made 39 aviation strikes, dropped 89 controlled bombs. In addition, the Russian zombies engaged 2659 kamikaze drones and carried out 3355 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
In the North-Slobozhansky and Kursky directions, one confrontation with Russian zagarbnikami took place. The Russian enemy carried out 150 shelling, including 10 - from reactive systems of zalpovogo fire.
Today, the Russian enemy attacked six times in the south-Slobozhansky direction in the Vovchansky district and in the direction of Dvorichansky. One fight is still going on.
Five times the Russian aggressor tried to go ahead on Ukrainian positions in the Kupyans Пkomu direction in the area of Boguslavka, Kupyanska and towards Pi оany and Novoplatonívka. One enemy attack is ongoing so far.
In the Lyman direction for today Ukrainian defenders repelled seven Russian attacks. Russian forces attacked in the areas of the settlements of Yampolivka, Derylove, Kolodyazi and towards the settlements of Druzhelyubivka, Drobisheve and Borov. One battle is still going on.
Ukrainian soldiers repelled 11 Russian attacks in the Slovenian direction. Units of the Russian occupiers tried to advance in the areas of Serebryanka, Verkhnyokamânsky, Pereíznogo and in the direction of Zvanívka. One fight is still going on.
In the Kramators теkomu direction, there were three clashes with the Russian opponent in the areas of mínkívka and predtečynogo.
In the Konstantinivka direction, Ukrainian troops today repelled 17 Russian attacks near Ples ськаyivka, Konstantinívka, Rusynoy Yar and towards Sofiyivka.
In the Pokrovsky direction during this day the Russian aggressor 52 times attacked Ukrainian positions in the areas of the population of Red Lyman, Road, Rodins сьke, Novoekonomíčne, Mirnograd, Pokrovsk, Rivne, Novopavlivka, Kotline, Udačne, Molodec кke, Filiya, Dachne. Four clashes are currently ongoing.
According to preliminary calculations, today on the Pokrovsky direction the Russian occupiers lost 94 people killed and injured. Ukrainian warriors destroyed 19 BPLAs, one motorcycle, two BPLAs control points, two Automobile and two special equipment units, six unmanned aircraft and one Russian personnel shelter; struck a cannon, an automobile unit and 21 enemy personnel shelters.
In the Oleksandrivsky direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 Russian attacks near the settlements of Yalta, Sosnivka, Privilne, Vorone, Verbove, Cherry and Green Grove. Two more clashes are still ongoing. Pokrovsky suffered an air strike.
In the direction of Gulyaipil, Russian forces carried out 10 assault actions, Ukrainian defenders repelled attacks in the direction of Varvarivka and Zatishya. Two combat clashes are still ongoing. Under the airstrike of the enemy was Zalíznyčne.
In the oríhívs мкуkomu direction the Russian opponent stepped four times: near stepnogírs Наka, plavnív and stepovogo. One fight is still going on. The Russian enemy caused air strikes on primors лоkomu and malokaterinívcí.
In the Pridniprovsky direction, the Russian enemy three times attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the area of the Antonivskogo Bridge. Odradokamâanka was hit by Russian unkekorovanih aviation missiles.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.
As a result of resolute actions, the Sever Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian units engaged a mechanised brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a territorial defence brigade near Volfino and Sadki (Sumy region).
In Kharkov direction, Russian troops hit units of two territorial defence brigades near Volchansk and Rybalkino (Kharkov region).
The AFU lost more than 210 troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, 18 motor vehicles, an artillery gun, and an electronic warfare station. Three ammunition dumps and two materiel depots were neutralised.
The Zapad Group of Forces improved the situation along the forward edge. Russian forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades and an assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Ostrovskoye, Shiykovka, and Boguslavka (Kharkov region).
Assault detachments of the 6th Army continue to inflict fire damage on the encircled enemy's group close to Kupyansk (Kharkov region).
Over the past 24 hours, two counter-attacks launched by units of the 143rd Mechanised Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 1st National Guard Brigade in order to release enemy units, have been thwarted near Kutkovka and Petrovka (Kharkov region). Ten militants were neutralised.
In Kupyansk direction, up to 50 troops, 15 units of armament and military hardware have been neutralised, including a UK-made Snatch armoured fighting vehicle, two mortars, three electronic warfare stations, five pickup trucks, and three motor vehicles.
In total, up to 220 troops, eight armoured fighting vehicles, 21 motor vehicles, and three field artillery guns including the Western-made, eight electronic warfare stations have been neutralised. Three ammunition depots were wiped out.
The Yug Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Two mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a territorial defence brigade were damaged near Kramatorsk, Varvarovka, and Ivanopolye (Donetsk People's Republic).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 230 troops, four armoured fighting vehicles including a German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle, eight motor vehicles, and six field artillery guns, one of them was Western-made. One electronic warfare station and three ammunition depots were neutralised.
The Tsentr Group of Forces continued advancing to the depths of enemy defence. Russian troops inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades, an air assault brigade, an assault brigade, two infantry brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade, and two national guard brigades close to Rusin Yar, Sergeyevka, Sukhetskoye, Artemovka, Krasny Kut, Rodinskoye (Donetsk People's Republic), Ivanovka, and Novopavlovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).
Close to Krasnoarmeysk (Donetsk People's Republic), assault detachments of the 2nd Army continued to launch attacks on the surrounded enemy group in the western part of the city, in the north-western and eastern quarters of the Central District as well as in the western industrial area. Furthermore, assault detachments began to mop up Rovnoye (Donetsk People's Republic).
In addition, seven attacks of the 32nd Mechanised Brigade, the 425th Skala Assault Regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were repelled from the area of Grishino (Donetsk People's Republic). Ukrainian troops attempted to releasing their encircled group.
In Dimitrov (Donetsk People's Republic), units of the the 51st Army continue to advance in the Vostochny neighborhood, in the southern part of the settlement. They came close to the Zapadny microdistrict.
Over the past 24 hours in Krasnoarmeysk direction, up to 270 troops, 11 units of weapons and military hardware have been neutralised including three armoured fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, three field artillery guns, one electronic warfare station, and a radar.
In total, up to 495 troops, six armoured fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, four field artillery guns, and an electronic warfare station were neutralised in the Tsentr Group's area of responsibility.
As a result of resolute actions, the Vostok Group of Forces liberated Yablokovo (Zaporozhye region).
The Group's forces hit a mechanised brigade, an assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a territorial defence brigade near Ternovatoye, Gulyaypole, Zatishye (Zaporozhye region), and Pokrovskoye (Dnepropetrovsk region).
The AFU losses amounted to more than 265 troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, 12 motor vehicles, and one artillery gun.
The Dnepr Group's units inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of a mechanised brigade of the AFU and a coastal defence brigade near Orekhov (Zaporozhye region) and Pridneprovskoye (Kherson region).
The enemy lost up to 85 troops, a tank, an armoured fighting vehicle, 11 motor vehicles, and nine electronic warfare stations. Three ammunition dumps and two materiel depots were neutralised.
Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have hit a military airfield, an energy facility that maintains the Ukrainian defence industry, a workshop for the production of uncrewed surface vehicles, assembly and storage areas of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, communication facilities of the Ukrainian Main Directorate of Intelligence, temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 152 areas.
Air defence systems shot down four guided aerial bombs and 247 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 96,796 unmanned aerial vehicles, 636 anti-aircraft missile systems, 26,044 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,611 MLRS combat vehicles, 31,314 field artillery guns and mortars, and 46,725 support military vehicles.
