A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.
On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, since the beginning of this day, there have been 234 combat clashes. Ukrainian defenders continue to decisively give an offence to the Russian enemy's attempts to advance deep into Ukrainian territory.
Russian zagarbniki made 25 aviation strikes, dropping 82 controlled bombs. In addition, 1811 kamikaze drones were recruited for impressions and carried out 2,829 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
In the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, there have been 20 combat clashes with Russian zagarbnikami, three of which are still ongoing. The Russian enemy carried out 79 shelling of the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, one of which was from jet systems of salpovogo fire.
Today, the Russian enemy attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders 12 times in the South Slobozhansky direction in the areas of Sinelnikovoye, Vovchansk and in the directions of Kolodyazny, Dvorichansky and Kutkivka.
In the direction of Kupyans Куkomu, Russian forces today carried out six offensive actions towards Petropavlivka, Boguslavka and Pishany. One battle is still going on.
In the Lyman direction, the Defense Forces repelled 16 Russian assault actions in the areas of settlements of Kopanka, Grekivka, Karpivka, Shandrigolove, Novoselivka, Novomikhailivka, Torske and in the direction of settlements of Korovy Yar, New Mir, Shiykivka, Drobisheve, Stavki. Five more fights are currently ongoing.
In the Slovak direction, the Russian enemy attacked 15 times near Serebryanka, Dronivka, Viimki and in the directions of Siversk, Svyato-Pokrovsky, Pazeno and Zvanivka.
In the Kramators маkomu direction, the Russian opponent once attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the area of the time yar.
28 combat clashes took place in the Konstantinivsky direction today. The Russian enemy stormed the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of settlements of Oleksandro-Shultine, Pleshiyivka, Scherbinivka, Kleban-Bik, Rusin Yar, Poltavka and in the directions of Ivanopil, Berestko, Predtechinyogo, Stepanivka and Sofiyivka. The two clashes are still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsky direction since the beginning of this day, the Russian enemy attacked 62 times in the areas of settlements Shahove, Rodinske, Chervony Liman, Novoekonomíčne, Kotline, Udaachne, Molodetske, Novomikolaivka, Lisivka, Dachne, Filia and in the directions of settlements Nove Shahove, Rivne, Mirnograd, Grishine and Novopavlivka. One combat encounter is underway.
Today in this direction, according to preliminary data, 132 Russian invaders were defecated, 100 of which - irrevocably. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed two combat armored cars, two motorcycles, four vehicles units, one ground robotic complex, 18 unmanned aircraft and one personnel shelter, hitting an automobile equipment unit and nine personnel shelters.
In the Oleksandrivsky direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 27 Russian attacks in the areas of settlements Ivanivka, Zeleny Gai, Andriyivka-Klevtsove, Yalta, Sichneve, Vorone, Stepovo, Verbove, Privilne, Voskresenka, Krasnogirsk and in the direction of Oleksiyivka. Three more attacks are underway.
In the direction of Gulyaipil, the Russian aggressor nine times tried to go ahead on the position of Ukrainian troops in the area of Rivnopil and in the direction of Zatishya. The three clashes are still ongoing. The Russian enemy launched an air strike on Gulyaipol.
In the Orihivsky direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled eight attacks in the areas of Šcherbakiv, Stepovoye and in the direction of Mala Tokmačka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka and Primorsky.
In the Pridnipro direction, the Russian enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to approach the positions of Ukrainian units in the direction of Antonivsky Bridge. The Russian opponent caused an air strike on pridniprovsk.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that in response to terrorist attacks launched by Ukraine against civilian facilities in Russia from 15 to 21 November, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out one massive and six group strikes, as a result of which enterprises of the defence industry of Ukraine and facilities of the fuel and power industry that supported the AFU, the transport infrastructure used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, assembly, storage, and preparation areas for the launch of attack unmanned aerial vehicles as well as temporary deployment areas of the AFU, nationalists, and foreign mercenaries were hit.
During the week, units of the Sever Group of Forces improved the tactical situation. Russian troops inflicted fire damage on manpower and hardware of one heavy mechanised brigade, three mechanised brigades, one jaeger brigade, one infantry brigade, one air assault brigade, one assault regiment, one battalion of the Unmanned Systems Forces, and one territorial defence brigade in Sumy region.
In Kharkov direction, as a result of active actions, the Group's units liberated Dvurechanskoye and Tsegelnoye (Kharkov region). In addition, Russian troops hit formations of one heavy mechanised brigade, one motorised infantry brigade, one assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two territorial defence brigades, one National Guard regiment, and border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
In the area of responsibility of the Sever Group of Forces, the enemy losses were more than 1,155 troops, one tank, nine armoured fighting vehicles, 85 motor vehicles, and eight field artillery guns. Seven electronic warfare stations and 31 ammunition and materiel depots were neutralised.
As a result of active actions, units of the Zapad Group of Forces completed the liberation Kupyansk (Kharkov region) and continue to eliminate AFU formations encircled on the left bank of the Oskol River. In addition, Novoselovka, Stavki, Maslyakovka, Yampol (Donetsk People's Republic), and Petropavlovka (Kharkov region) were liberated.
Russian troops launched attacks on five mechanised brigades, one assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two territorial defence brigades, and one National Guard brigade.
Over the past week, in the area of responsibility of the Zapad Group of Forces, the enemy losses were more than 1,570 troops, four tanks, 32 armoured fighting vehicles, 133 motor vehicles, and 13 field artillery guns. In addition, 29 ammunition depots and 58 electronic warfare stations were neutralised.
As a result of decisive actions, units of the Yug Group of Forces liberated Platonovka (Donetsk People's Republic).
Russian troops inflicted fie damage on manpower and hardware of four mechanised brigades, one airmobile brigade, one assault brigade, one mountain assault brigade of the AFU, one marine brigade, and one territorial defence brigade.
During the week, in this direction, the enemy losses were more than 1,195 troops, one tank, 21 armoured fighting vehicles, 115 motor vehicles, and 14 field artillery guns. In addition, 12 electronic warfare stations as well as 26 ammunition, fuel, and materiel depots were neutralised.
The Tsentr Group of Forces' units took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian troops delivered strikes at formations of six mechanised brigades, one assault brigade, two infantry brigades, three air assault brigades, two jaeger brigades, two assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two marine brigades, two territorial defence brigades, and three National Guard brigades.
In Krasnoarmeysk (Donetsk People's Republic), assault detachments of the 2nd Army continue to eliminate encircled formations of the AFU in Tsentralny and Gornyak districts as well as in the western industrial area. Russian troops continue to mop up Rovnoye (Donetsk People's Republic).
In addition, Russian servicemen repelled six attacks on armoured vehicles of the units of the AFU 32nd Mechanised Brigade, the 95th Air Assault Brigade, and the 210st Assault Regiment of the AFU in the area of Grishino (Donetsk People's Republic). Ukrainian troops tried to deblock an encircled enemy group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Up to 50 militants, one tank, and two U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carriers were neutralised.
In Dimitrov (Donetsk People's Republic), assault detachments of the 51st Army continue active offensive actions in the eastern, western, and southern areas of the city. In addition, Russian troops thwarted five attempts of formations of the 35th Marine Brigade to escape from the encirclement in a northern direction with the support of armoured vehicles. Up to 25 troops and four armoured fighting vehicles were neutralised.
From 15 to 21 November, near Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov (Donetsk People's Republic), more than 1,700 troops, two tanks, 30 armoured fighting vehicles, 17 motor vehicles, and 10 field artillery guns were neutralised.
Over the past week, in the area of responsibility of the Tsentr Group of Forces, the enemy losses were more than 3,165 troops, four tanks, 39 armoured fighting vehicles, 45 motor vehicles, 10 field artillery guns, and two electronic warfare stations.
Over the past week, units of the Vostok Group of Forces continued to advance into the depths of enemy defences and completed the liberation of Gai, Nechayevka, and Radostnoye (Dnepropetrovsk region) as well as Yablokovo, Ravnopolye, and Veseloye (Zaporozhye region).
In addition, Russian troops hit manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades, two assault brigades, four assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and two territorial defence brigades.
During the week, in this direction, the AFU losses were up to 1,790 troops, two tanks, nine armoured fighting vehicles, 64 motor vehicles, and seven field artillery guns. What is more, four electronic warfare stations and three ammunition depots were neutralised.
As a result of active and decisive actions, units of the Dnepr Group of Forces liberated Malaya Tokmachka (Zaporozhye region).
Russian troops launched attacks on formations of one mechanised brigade, one mountain assault brigade, one coastal defence brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and one territorial defence brigade.
The AFU losses were up to 550 troops, two tanks, 12 armoured fighting vehicles, 81 motor vehicles, and seven field artillery guns. In addition, 46 electronic warfare stations and 28 ammunition and materiel depots have been neutralised.
Over the past week, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Group of Forces destroyed two HIMARS MLRS launchers and two U.S.-made MLRS launchers.
Air defence systems shot down four U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, four Storm Shadow cruise air-to-surface missiles, 15 guided aerial bombs, four U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles, two Neptune long-range guided missiles as well as 1,089 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Black Sea Fleet destroyed two AFU uncrewed surface vehicles in the north-eastern part of the Black Sea.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost 668 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 97,638 unmanned aerial vehicles, 637 anti-aircraft missile systems, 26,156 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,618 MLRS combat vehicles, 31,452 field artillery guns and mortars, and 47,253 special military vehicles.
