Russo-Ukraine War - 28 September 2025 - Day 1313

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, there have been 109 combat clashes since the beginning of this day.

Zagarbniki made one rocket strike and 58 aviation strikes, applied 50 rockets, dropped 108 controlled air bombs. In addition, the Russians have engaged 2706 kamikaze drones and carried out 3391 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

In the North Slobozhansky and Kursky directions, Ukrainian soldiers repelled six Russian assault actions since the beginning of the day, another fight is ongoing.
The Russian enemy also launched four air strikes, while dropping eight controlled air bombs, carried out 130 shells, seven of which were from jet systems of salvage fire.
In the South Slobozhansky direction, the Russian enemy has attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders four times in the areas of the settlements of Vovchansk, Ambarné and Kamyanka, so far three clashes are continuing.
In the Kupyansk direction, Russian units carried out three assault actions, trying to break through the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the areas of the settlements of Kupyansk and Zagrizove, one confrontation is still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction since the beginning of the day Russian zagarbniki four times attacked the positions of Ukrainians in the areas of the settlements of Torske, Derylove, Shandrigolove and in the direction of the settlement of Stavka.
In the sívers поkomu direction, the Russian enemy eight times tried to break through near fedorivka, grigorívka, serebryanka and towards yampol and dronívka.
In the Kramators Предkomu direction one combat was recorded, the Russian enemy's units tried to advance towards the Predtečinyo.
In the Toretsky direction Russians seven times attacked the positions of Defense Forces. Efforts of the attack of the Russian occupiers concentrated in the areas of šcherbinívka, stepanivka, ples Зуíivka, poltavka, oleksandro-kalinovogo and rusynogo yar. The two clashes are still ongoing.
Since the beginning of the day in the Pokrovsky direction, Russian units 41 times tried to break through Ukrainian defense in the areas of settlements Volodymyrivka, Chervony Lyman, Nikanorivka, Lisivka, Zvirove, Kotline, Udaachne, Molodetske, Novoekonomichne, Philia and in the direction of Mirnograd, Rodinsky, Balagan. In six locations, the fighting does not stop.
Defense forces deter enemy attacks, the Russian enemy suffers significant losses - today 152 Russian invaders have been defecated in this direction, 96 of which are irrevocable. Ukrainian defenders destroyed three units of automotive equipment and 32 unmanned aircraft. Also significantly damaged three artillery systems, two tanks, six cars. In addition to this, Ukrainian defenders have struck eight coverings of personnel.
In the Novopavlovsky direction, Ukrainian units stopped 10 Russian attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops in the area of settlements Ternove, Piddubne, Maliyivka, Novomikolaivka, Verbove and in the direction of Andriyivka-Klevtsove settlement, three more combat clashes are ongoing so far.
In the Gulyajpils райkomu direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attacks in the area of Poltavka. The Russian enemy's aviation struck the Zalíznychnomu and Novoselívka.
In the Orihiv direction the Russian opponent did not carry out offensive actions.
In the pridniprovsk direction, the Russian opponent made two unsuccessful attempts of offense, suffered losses. At the same time, the Russian enemy launched an aviation strike on the settlement of Olgivka.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that last night, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out a massive strike with long-range high-precision weapons, sea-based weapons, and unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukrainian defence industry facilities as well as the infrastructure of military airfields.

The objectives of the strike were achieved. All the designated targets were hit.

Units of the Sever Group of Forces defeated formations of one mechanised brigade and one motorised infantry brigade, two assault regiments and one air assault regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine close to Pisarevka, Varachino, Kondratovka, Ivolzhanskoye, Stepnoye, and Alekseyevka in Sumy region.

In Kharkov direction, Russian troops hit units of one motorised infantry brigade, one heavy mechanised brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the border guard detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine near Vilcha, Bologovka, Sinelnikovo, and Volchansk in Kharkov region.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine losses were up to 175 troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, 13 motor vehicles, one 152-mm D-20 gun, one electronic warfare station, and four ammunition depots.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces improved their tactical situation on the front line. Russian troops are mopping suburban areas up in Kirovsk (Donetsk People's Republic).

Russian troops inflicted fire damage on manpower and hardware of six mechanised brigades and two assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one territorial defence brigade, and one National Guard brigade close to Peschanoye, Moskovka, Novosergeyevka, Petrovka (Kharkov region), Volchy Yar, Novoselovka, Yampol, and Krasny Liman (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy losses were up to 230 troops, one tank, three armoured fighting vehicles, 18 motor vehicles, seven electronic warfare stations, and nine ammunition depots.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces improved their situation on the front line and continued to destroy the enemy blocked south of the Kleban-Byk Reservoir in the Donetsk People's Republic.

Russian troops inflicted fire damage on formations of three mechanised brigades, one airmobile brigade, one mountain assault brigade, and assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one territorial defence brigade, and one National Guard brigade close to Ivanopolye, Berestok, Seversk, Slavyansk, Alekseyevo-Druzhkovka, Kleban-Byk, and Konstantinovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy lost up to 260 servicemen, a tank, 12 vehicles and three field artillery pieces. A radio-electronic warfare station, three ammunition and fuel depots were destroyed.

Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian troops defeated manpower and hardware of four mechanised brigades, one airmobile brigade, one assault brigade, one airborne brigade, two air assault brigades, three assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two marine brigades, one territorial defence brigade, and two National Guard brigades in close to Krasnoarmeysk, Dimitrov, Torskoye, Priyut, Grishino, Belitskoye, Rodinskoye, Zolotoy Kolodez (Donetsk People's

Republic), Filiya and Novopavlovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).

The enemy losses were more than 505 troops, one tank, three pickup trucks, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer.

Units of the Vostok Group of Forces continued to advance deep into enemy defences. Servicemen defeated formations of four mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and one territorial defence brigade near Chervonoye, Novogrigorovka, Poltavka (Zaporozhye region), Stepovoye and Verbovoye (Dnepropetrovsk region).

The Armed Forces of Ukraine losses were more than 305 troops, one tank, two armoured fighting vehicles, 10 motor vehicles, and one electronic warfare station.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces defeated manpower and hardware of one air assault brigade, one mountain assault brigade, and one infantry brigade, two coastal defence brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and one territorial defence brigade close to Belogorye, Stepovoye (Zaporozhye region), Nikolayevka, Antonovka, and Lvovo (Kherson region).

The enemy losses were up to 55 Ukrainian servicemen, two armoured fighting vehicles, nine motor vehicles , one unmanned boat, seven electronic warfare stations, and two ammunition depots.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces inflicted fire damage on a traction substations used to transport weapons and military hardware by rail to combat zones in Donbass, assembly and storage sites for unmanned boats and long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, and their launch areas as well as temporary deployment areas of the AFU and foreign mercenaries in 147 areas.

Air defence systems shot down six guided aerial bombs, six projectiles of U.S.-made HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems and Czech-made Vampire systems as well as 230 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost: 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 87,130 unmanned aerial vehicles, 631 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,273 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,592 MLRS combat vehicles, 30,010 field artillery guns and mortars, 42,797 support military vehicles.
