Russo-Ukraine War - 12 September 2025 - Day 1297

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces are directing efforts to disrupt the execution of Russian invaders' offensive plans and exhaust their combat potential.

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 168 clashes. The Russian enemy launched one missile and 57 air strikes, fired three missiles and shot down 88 KABs, engaged 2236 kamikaze drones to strike, and carried out 3593 shelling of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

In the North Slobozhansky and Kursky directions, there were 2 attacks of Russian invaders. Today, the Russian enemy launched one rocket and 11 air strikes, used three rockets and dropped 19 controlled air bombs, carried out 102 shells, including 2 from the reactive systems of salpovogo fire.
In the south-Slobozhans жанkomu direction, there were 14 fighting in the areas of Vovchansk, Barnoy and in the direction of Odradnoy, Kutkivka. There's still one battle going on.
In the Kupians нашихkomu direction, Russian forces committed seven attacks on the position of Ukrainian troops. The fights were drowned in the area of Golubivki and in the direction of Pi Боany, New Kruglyakivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops 13 times stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the area of Kolodyaziv and in the direction of settlements of Shandrigolove, Stavki. The two clashes are still ongoing.
In the Sívers Наkomu direction Ukrainian warriors today have already fought 16 of 18 attempts to attack Ukrainian positions. Units of the Russian occupiers tried to advance in the areas of Serebryanka, Grigorivka and towards the settlements of Yampil, Dronivka, Viymka.
In the Kramators Наkomu direction, the Defense Forces stopped five Russian attacks in the area of Orihovo-Vasilivki and in the direction of Stupochok.
In the Toretsky direction, Russian forces today stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders 12 times in the areas of the settlements of Cherbinivka, Katerinivka, Oleksandro-Kalinove and in the direction of Pleschievka, Stepanivka, Poltavka. Defense Forces have held back the pressure of the Russian enemy and have already repelled 11 assault actions.
In the pokrovsky direction, Russian forces made 37 attempts to potisnisniti Ukrainian units. The greatest activity is observed in the areas of settlements Volodymyrivka, Shahove, Mayak, Zatishok, Novoekonomíčne, Mykolaivka, Mirolubivka, Udaachne, Muravka, Dachne, Novoukrainka and towards settlements Mirnograd, Romin, Suhiy Yar, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Molodetske, Novopidgorodne, Filia. So far, two clashes are ongoing.
According to preliminary calculations, in this direction, Ukrainian warriors eliminated 99 and wounded 60 Russian invaders, destroyed two tanks, three cars, four motorcycles, 15 unmanned aircraft, an ammunition warehouse and damaged a car, two cannons, BPLA control point, seven Russian personnel shelters.
In the Novopavlovsk direction, Russian forces tried to break through 10 times near the settlements of Vorone, Maliivka, Ternovo, Novomikolaivka, Olgivskke and in the direction of Philia, Ivanivka. The fights continue in one location.
In the direction of Gulyaipil, the Russian opponent did not carry out offensive actions, but made aerial strikes on the settlements of Bilogir and Zaliznychne.
In the Orihiv direction, the zagarbnic Оkí troops twice attacked in the direction of small tokmačka and novodanilívka. Aviation of the Russian aggressor struck the areas of populated areas of Novoyakovlivka and Veselyanka.
In the pridniprovsk direction, Russian forces conducted two futile attacks on the position of Ukrainian defenders, at the same time caused an air strike in the area of the settlement of lviv.
In other directions, significant changes in the environment have not been recorded.
