Russo-Ukraine War - 18 September 2025 - Day 1303

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, since the beginning of this day, there have been 172 combat encounters. Ukrainian defenders are decisively intercepting the attempts of the Russian enemy to advance deep into Ukrainian territory, giving him a fiery impression.

Today, Russian troops launched 52 aviation strikes, dropping 95 controlled air bombs. In addition, 1566 kamikaze drones were involved in strikes and carried out 3,476 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

In the North Slobozhansky and Kursky directions, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 10 Russian assault actions since the beginning of the day, two more clashes continue. In addition, the Russian enemy launched 10 air strikes, dropping 28 controlled airstrikes, and carried out 132 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, five of which were from open-fire jet systems.
In the South Slobozhansky direction, the Russian enemy has attacked the positions of Ukrainian units eight times near the settlements of Gliboke, Vovchansk, Vovchansky Khutory and Odradne, three battles are ongoing.
In the Kupians вогоkomu direction, Russian forces carried out offensive actions towards Kupians Наk, Novoosinovoye, Kindrashivka and in the direction of Borovaí̈. Five of the six attacks were repelled by Ukrainian warriors, another battle is ongoing.
In the Lyman direction Russian zagarbniki 12 times attacked the positions of Defense Forces near the Kolodyazi settlement and towards the settlements of Shiykivka, Shandrigolove, Stavki, Zarichne. The two clashes continue.
Nine Russian assaults were repelled by Ukrainian defenders in the Siversky direction - the Russian occupiers tried to advance in the area of Serebryanka and attacked towards Yampol, Vyimki. Four fighting clashes are underway.
In the Kramatorsky direction, the Russian enemy twice unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders in the areas of the settlements of Oleksandro-Shultine and Bila Gora.
In the Toretsky direction, Russians attacked 15 times on the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of the settlements of Scherbinivka, Kleban-Bik, Toretsk, Poltavka and towards Pleshiyivka, Rusiny Yar; two more clashes are ongoing so far.
In the Pokrovsky direction since the beginning of the day, the Russian occupiers tried 61 times to advance on the position of Ukrainian units. The Russian enemy attacked in the areas of settlements Shahove, Volodymyrivka, New Shahove, Novoekonomíčne, Lisivka, Zvirove, Kotline, Udaachne, Dachne and towards the Chervony Liman, Rodinsky, Pokrovska, Novopídgorodnogo, Molodetsky, Muravka, Novopavlivka, Filí̈. In six locations, the fights have not subsided so far.
In the Intercession Direction, Ukrainian units cause the Russian occupiers significant losses and their active actions remove the aggressor of the ability to carry out the tasks of the offensive operation.
According to preliminary data, today in this direction 207 Russian occupants were defecated, 125 of them - irrevocably. Also Ukrainian soldiers destroyed two motorcycles; damaged cannon, motorcycle and five shelters for the enemy's personnel.
In the Novopavlívs ваkomu direction, the Russian ashresor 21 times tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian defenders in the areas of the settlements of Sichneve, Voskresenka, Piddubne, Maliivka, Komyshuvakha, Ternove, Olgivka and towards Filija, Ivanivka, Iskra, Birch. Three clashes are underway.
In the direction of Gulyaipils проводиkomu, the Russian enemy did not carry out offensive actions.
In the Orihivsky direction, the Russian enemy attacked five times in the area of the settlement of Kamianske and towards Novoandriivka.
In the Pridniprovsky direction, the Russian enemy twice tried in vain to approach the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the direction of the Antonivsky Bridge.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

The Sever Group of Forces inflicted fire damage on three mechanised brigades, a motorised infantry brigade, and an assault regiments of the Armed Forces of Ukraine close to Andreyevka, Konstantinovka, Yunakovka, and Miropolye (Sumy region).

In Kharkov direction, units of a mechanised brigade of the AFU and a territorial defence brigade have been hit near Ambarnoye and Volchansk (Kharkov region).

The AFU losses amounted to over 205 troops, two tanks, an armoured fighting vehicle, five motor vehicles, and a field artillery gun. One electronic warfare station and four material depots were neutralised.

The Zapad Group of Forces' units improved the tactical situation. Russian troops engaged manpower and hardware of a mechanised brigade, an assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a national guard brigade near Kupyansk, Petropavlovka, Borovskaya Andreyevka (Kharkov region), Kirovsk, and Yampol (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy losses amounted to more than 230 troops, three Western-made armoured fighting vehicles, 19 motor vehicles, and an artillery gun. Ten electronic warfare stations and five ammunition depots were neutralised.

The Yug Group of Forces' units took more advantageous lines and positions. Strikes were delivered at formations of two mechanised brigades, a mountain assault brigade, an assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and a territorial defence brigade near Seversk, Pereyezdnoye, Fedorovka, Belokuzminovka, Verolyubovka, Mayskoye, Pleshcheyevka, and Zvanovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy lost up to 195 troops, three armoured fighting vehicles, 15 motor vehicles, and three field artillery guns. Three electronic warfare stations and five ammunition and materiel depots were neutralised.

The Tsentr Group of Forces' units improved the situation along the front line. Russian elements engaged three mechanised brigades, an assault brigade, an air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a marine brigade, a territorial defence brigade, and a national guard brigade close to Kutuzovka, Volnoye, Rodinskoye, Dimitrov, Krasnoarmeysk, Novy Donbass, Krasny Liman, and Lenino (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 435 troops, six armoured fighting vehicles, seven motor vehicles, and three artillery guns.

The Vostok Group of Forces' units continued to advance into the depths of enemy defences. Russian formations engaged a mechanised brigade, an assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and two territorial defence brigades close to Berezovoye, Novonikolayevka, Vishnevoye in Dnepropetrovsk region, and Novoivanovka (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 280 troops, a tank, three armoured fighting vehicles, 10 motor vehicles, and an artillery gun. One electronic warfare station and an ammunition depot were neutralised.

The Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of a mechanised brigade, a mountain assault brigade, and a coastal defence brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Novoandreyevka, Kamenskoye (Zaporozhye region), and Antonovka (Kherson region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 50 troops, eight motor vehicles, and two field artillery guns. Five electronic warfare stations and three ammunition depots were neutralised.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces have inflicted damage on energy infrastructure used in the interests of the AFU, storage and workshops of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles as well as temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries in 142 areas.

Air defence systems shot down 106 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 84,971 unmanned aerial vehicles, 628 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,157 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,592 MLRS combat vehicles, 29,668 field artillery guns and mortars, and 42,118 special military vehicles.
