Russo-Ukraine War - 21 September 2025 - Day 1306

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that 123 combat clashes have taken place since the beginning of the day.

The Russian opponent made 46 air strikes, dropping 85 controlled air bombs. Also used 2480 kamikaze drones for strikes and carried out 3,636 shells of settlements and positions of Ukrainian troops.

Ukrainian defenders repelled six Russian attacks of the attackers in the Northern Slobozhansky and Kursky directions. The Russian enemy launched 12 air strikes, dropped 31 controlled air bombs and carried out 143 shells, including 11 from reactive fire systems.
In the South Slobozhansky direction, Ukrainian units prevented ten Russian attacks near settlements of Vovchansk, Tyhe and towards Odradny.
In the Kupyans поkomu direction, Ukrainian warriors repelled six Russian attacks in the areas of Stepova Novoselivka, New Kruglyakivka and Kupyanska.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers stopped 12 Russian assault actions near settlements near the settlements of Grekivka, Novomikhailivka, Shandrigolove, Kolodyazi, Torske and Novoselivka. Five more combat clashes continue so far.
In the sívers Наkomu direction, the Russian opponent is trying to enter the area of serebryanka, the battle is currently being sharpened.
In the kramators Наkomu direction, Ukrainian defenders hit off three attempts of Russian zagarbnikív to advance towards stupočok and novomarkovogo.
In the Toretsky direction, the Russian occupiers today nine times stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the areas of Pleshiyivka, Rusiny Yar, Poltavka and Toretsk. Defense forces are steadily suppressing the pressure and repelling all attacks of the enemy.
Throughout the day in the pokrovsky direction, the Russian enemy committed 34 offensive actions. The activity of Russian occupiers was fixed near the settlements of Pankivka, Nikanorivka, Novoekonomíčne, Red Strait, Beam, Chunyshine, Zvirove, Udačne, Kotline and Dachne. Three fighting clashes are still ongoing.
Today in this direction, according to preliminary data, 167 Russian occupants have been defecated, of which 98 - irrevocably. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed 23 unmanned aircraft and the occupiers' car. Ukrainian soldiers also hit four artillery systems, five units of automobile equipment, three control points of BPLA and nine shelters for personnel.
In the Novopavlovsk direction, Ukrainian units repelled 13 attacks in the areas of settlements Filiya, Green Grove, Piddubne, Maliyivka, Sichneve, Komyshuvakha, Vorone, Novomykolaivka and Zaporozhye. The two fighting clashes are still ongoing.
Ukrainian soldiers repelled two Russian attacks near Olgivskyi in the direction of Gulyaipils гіkomu direction.
In the Orihivsky direction, the Russian enemy six times tried to go forward at the position of Ukrainian units in the area of Kamiansky and in the direction of Mala Tokmačka and Novodanilivka, two confrontations continue so far.
In the pridniprovsky direction of combat clashes at the moment is not recorded.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

The Sever Group of Forces inflicted losses on three mechanised brigades, two heavy mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and one territorial defence brigade near Alekseyevka, Andreyevka, Iskriskovshchina, Varachino, Sennoye, and Pavlovka (Sumy region).

In Kharkov direction, units of one motorised infantry brigade, two mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and one territorial defence brigade have been hit close to Bely Kolodez, Veliky Burluk, Polnaya, and Volchansk (Kharkov region).

The AFU lost more than 185 troops, one tank, seven motor vehicles, one field artillery gun, one counter-fire radar station, one electronic warfare station, and four ammunition depots.

The Zapad Group's units improved the tactical situation. Russian troops hit three mechanised brigades, two assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one marine brigade, one territorial defence brigade, and one national guard brigade were hit near Kupyansk, Pristin, Nechvolodovka (Kharkov region), Kirovsk, Shandrigolovo, Drobyshevo, Dronovka, Krymki, and Yampol (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy losses amounted to more than 225 troops, one Canadian-made Senator armoured fighting vehicle, 16 motor vehicles, and four artillery guns. Ten electronic warfare stations and three ammunition depots were neutralised.

The Yug Group's units took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian troops hit seven mechanised brigades, one assault brigade, one mountain assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one marine brigade, one territorial defence brigade, and one national guard brigade were defeated near Seversk, Stepanovka, Reznikovka, Aleksandro-Kalinovo, and Konstantinovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The enemy lost up to 220 troops, one U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carrier, two armoured fighting vehicles, 11 pickup trucks, and five field artillery guns. Two electronic warfare stations, four ammunition depots, and one fuel depot were neutralised.

The Tsentr Group's units improved the situation along the front line. They inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades, one assault brigade, two jaeger brigades, three air assault brigades, two assault regiments of the AFU, one marine brigade, three territorial defence brigades, and two national guard brigades close to Dimitrov, Nikolaypolye, Rodinskoye, Krasny Liman, Krasnoarmeysk (Donetsk People's Republic), and Ivanovka (Dnepropetrovsk region).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 500 troops, one U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carrier, three Kazak armoured fighting vehicles, six motor vehicles, and one field artillery gun.

The Vostok Group of Forces continued their advance to the depths of the enemy's defence defeated formations of two mechanised brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one territorial defence brigade, and one national guard brigade close to Novovasilovskoye, Uspenovka, Poltavka, Novogrigorovka (Zaporozhye region) and Novonikolayevka (Dnepropetrovsk region).

The AFU lost up to 340 troops, one armoured fighting vehicle, 14 motor vehicles, and one artillery gun.

The Dnepr Group's units inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of one mechanised brigade, one mountain assault brigade and three coastal defence brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Tyaginka, Nikolskoye (Kherson region), Stepnogorsk, and Stepovoye (Zaporozhye region).

Up to 45 Ukrainian troops, nine motor vehicles, and four electronic warfare stations were neutralised.

Operational-tactical aircraft, attack UAVs, missile troops and artillery of the Russian groups of forces engaged the launching sites of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 138 areas.

 The Black Sea Fleet eliminated two uncrewed enemy surface vehicles in the north-western part of the Black Sea.

Air defence systems shot down 65 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the enemy has lost 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 85,483 unmanned aerial vehicles, 628 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,198 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,592 MLRS combat vehicles, 29,777 field artillery guns and mortars, and 42,309 units of support military vehicles.
