Russo-Ukraine War - 27 August 2025 - Day 1281

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that 110 combat clashes have taken place since the beginning of the day. The Russian enemy launched 56 airstrikes on the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements, using 84 controlled airstrikes. Recorded 1647 strikes with kamikaze drones, the enemy carried out 3554 artillery shelling.

Six combat clashes took place today in the North Slobozhansky and Kursky directions. During the day, the Russian enemy carried out 165 artillery shells, including four from reactive systems of assault-fire; launched 12 air strikes, dropped 23 controlled bombs.

Three attacks were repelled by Ukrainian units in the South Slobozhansky direction in the areas of settlements Gliboke and Kolodyazne. Until now, two collisions near vovchans 'k and kamenki are not calming.
In the Kupyansky direction, the Russian opponent tried to break through Ukrainian defensive positions in the Kupyansk district six times. Four attacks are ongoing so far.
Twenty times, Russian forces attacked in the Lyman direction, trying to advance in the areas of Novomikhailivka, New Mir, Green Valley, Kolodyaziv, Torsky, Serebryanka and in the directions of Yampol, Zakitny, Dronivka and Shandrigolovy. Nine combat clashes are ongoing so far.
In the sívers верkomu direction, Ukrainian defenders have successfully stopped three attacks near fedorívka, grigorívka and in the direction of sívers успіka. One combat encounter is ongoing so far.
The Russian enemy has tried to infiltrate Ukrainian defense seven times in the Toretsky direction in the areas of Plesh каyivka, Toretsk and Poltavka.
Intensely attacks the Russian enemy of Ukrainian defenders in the Pokrovsky direction. Here, during the day, Russian forces carried out 33 assault and offensive actions. The activity of Russian occupiers was recorded in the areas of populated areas of Volodymyrivka, Novoekonomichne, Mirolubivka, Sukhetske, Lisivka, Udachne, Molodetske, Novoukrainka and in the direction of populated areas Mirnograd, Rodinske, Romin, Balagan, Novopavlivka, Chervony Lyman, Pokrovsk. One combat encounter is underway.
According to preliminary calculations, today Ukrainian warriors in this direction zneškodili 151 okupanta, of which 107 - irrevocable. Also Ukrainian defenders damaged a combat armored car, cannon, seven vehicles, a motorcycle, 84 drones and an enemy drone control point.
In the Novopavlovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 15 attacks in the areas of the settlements Filiya, Ivanivka, Voskresenko and towards the settlement of Sichneve. There's still one battle going on.
In Kramatorsky, Gulyaipilsky, Orihivskky, Pridniprovskky directions since the beginning of the day, no Russian offensive actions have been recorded, however, the Russian enemy launched aerial strikes on the settlements of Bilogir and Mykolaivka.
