Russo-Ukraine War - 08 August 2025 - Day 1262

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, since the beginning of this day, there have been 131 combat encounters. Ukrainian defenders continue to decisively interrupt the attempts of the Russian enemy to advance deep into Ukrainian territory, giving him a fiery impression.

Russian zagarbniki made two missile and 54 aviation strikes, using three missiles and dropping 92 controlled air bombs. In addition, 1572 kamikaze drones were recruited to impress and carried out 4142 shelling of the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

10 clashes took place in the North Slobozhansky and Kursky directions. The Russian enemy launched 13 air strikes, dropped 31 guided air bombs in total and fired 226 artillery shells, including 10 from reactive salvage systems.
Today, the Russian enemy attacked four times in the South Slobozhansky direction - in the Vovchanskaya district and in the direction of Novovasilivka.
In the Kupyansky direction, Russian forces made five attacks in the areas of Mirnoy, Kupyanska, Golubivka and in the direction of New Kruglyakivka. One battle is still going on.
In the Lymanian direction, the Defense Forces repelled 19 assault actions in the areas of settlements Grekivka, Karpivka, Zarichne, Kolodyazi, Torske, Dibrova, Serebryanka, as well as towards Shandrigolovy and Yampol. The six clashes are still ongoing.
In the sívers чіkomu direction, Russian forces twice attacked in the areas of grigorívka and fedorívka - got vídsíč.
Since the beginning of the day in the Kramators маkomu direction, Russian units twice attacked in the area of Chasovoye Yar and White Mountain.
Seven boêzítknen нен took place in Toretsky direction today. The Russian enemy tried to storm the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of Toretsk, Scherbynivka, Katerynivka, Rusynoy Yar and Pleshiyivka. Currently one fight is going on.
In the Pokrovsky direction, since the beginning of this day, Russian forces attacked 33 times in the areas of settlements Zvirove, Volodymyrivka, Rodinske, Poltavka, Boikivka, Red Lyman, Lisivka, Kotline, Udaachne, Novoukrainka, Zeleny Kut, as well as in the direction of Cossack, Road and Novopavlivka. Ukrainian defenders are holding back the pressure of the opponent, one confrontation is ongoing so far.
Today, according to preliminary data, 83 Russian invaders were defiled, of which 52 - irrevocably. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed a mortar, one car, three motorcycles, seven bpla, one satellite communication terminal, three communication antennas and one personnel shelter. One tank, one car and 11 shelters for personnel warehouse were also significantly damaged.
In the Novopavlovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 17 Russian attacks in the areas of settlements Filiya, Zelene Pole, Tolstoy, Temirivka, Maliivka, Novopil and Olgivsk. Yet another battle is underway.
In the Gulyaipil direction, the Defense Forces successfully repelled a Russian assault near Malinivka. In addition, the Russian enemy launched an air strike with unkempled aviation missiles on Bilogirû.
In the Orihiv direction Ukrainian defenders repelled one Russian attack towards Novoandriivka, another fight is ongoing.
In the Pridniprovsk direction, the Defense Forces repelled nine Russian attacks. The Russian enemy launched an air strike on Olgivka.
In other directions, significant changes in the environment have not been recorded.
