A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, 162 combat encounters have taken place since the beginning of this day.

Ukrainian defenders continue to decisively interrupt the Russian attempts to advance deep into Ukrainian territory, giving him a fiery impression.

Russian zagarbniki made 59 aviation strikes, dropping 113 controlled bombs. In addition, 1768 Russian kamikaze drones were recruited to impress and carried out 3238 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
Nine combat clashes took place in the North Slobozhansky and Kursky directions. The Russian enemy launched nine air strikes, dropped 27 controlled air bombs in total and carried out 148 artillery shells, including five from reactive arsenal systems.
Today, the Russian enemy attacked 21 times in the south-Slobozhansky direction in the areas of Vovchansky, Western, Dovgenky, in the direction of Kolodyazny, Kutkivka, Odradny, Dvorichansky, Liptsiv. The fights are still ongoing in five locations.
In the Kupians янkomu direction, the Russian opponent made six attacks in the area of Kupians Куka, Stepova Novoselivka and towards Kurilivka. The three fighting clashes are still ongoing.
In the Lymanian direction, the Defense Forces have repelled six and are holding back four more assault actions in the areas of settlements Novomikhailivka, Shandrigolove, Derylove, Karpivka, Torske and in the direction of Olgivka and the New Peace.
In the Slovak direction, the Russian enemy attacked seven times in the areas of yampol, dronívka and grigorívka.
Since the beginning of the day in the kramators Зkomu direction, the Russian enemy did not carry out offensive actions.
15 combat clashes took place in the Konstantinivsky direction today. Russian forces tried to storm the positions of Ukrainian units near Rusynoy Yar, Scherbinivka, Pleshiyivka, Poltavka and in the direction of Konstantinivka.
In the Pokrovsky direction from the beginning of this day, the Russian enemy 37 times attacked in the areas of settlements Comfort, Nikanorivka, Chervony Liman, Lisivka, Razine, Novoekonomíčne, Mirolûbivka, Dachne, Muravka and in the direction of settlements Mirnograd, Balagan, Pokrovsk, Philia. Ukrainian defenders hold the pressure of the Russian opponent, three combat clashes are still ongoing.
Today in this direction, according to preliminary data, 122 Russian invaders, of which 87 - irrevocably. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed one cannon, two cars, two motorcycles, 20 unmanned aircraft, four special equipment units and one Russian drone control point.
In the Oleksandrivsky direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 24 Russian attacks in the areas of settlements Andriyivka-Klevtsove, Piddubne, Sosnivka, Filiya, Sichneve, Komyshuvakha, Vorone, Oleksiyivka, Novomikolaivka, Novogrigorivka, Poltavka, Malinivka. Eight more combat clashes are underway.
In the direction of Gulyaipil, the Russian enemy launched an aviation strike on the settlement of Bilogir.
In the Orihivsky direction since the beginning of the day, seven clashes took place - the Russian occupiers tried to advance in the Stepovoye area and in the direction of Novoandriivka.
Populated points Stepnogirsk and Lukyanivsk suffered aviation strikes by unmanaged missiles.
In the Pridniprovsky direction, the Defense Forces stopped the Russian enemy from trying to advance in the direction of the Antonivsky Bridge. In addition, the Russian occupiers made an aviation strike on the pridniprovsk.
In other directions, there have been no significant changes in the environment.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

Units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted losses on formations of one armour brigade, two mechanised brigades, one assault regiment of the AFU, two territorial defence brigades, and one border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine close to Alekseyevka, Varachino, Kondratovka, Korchakovka, Pershe Travnya, Rogoznoye, and Yastrebinoye (Sumy region).

In Kharkov direction, units of one mechanised brigade, one motorised infantry brigade of the AFU, and one border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine were hit near Volchansk, Kolodeznoye, and Obukhovka (Kharkov region).

The AFU have lost up to 220 servicemen. Two armoured fighting vehicles, 16 motor vehicles, four artillery guns, and eight ammunition and materiel depots were neutralised.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions. Russian troops inflicted losses on two mechanised brigades of the AFU, two territorial defence brigades, and one national guard brigade near Krasny Liman (Donetsk People's Republic), Kupyansk, Kurilovka, Novoosinovo, and Palamarevka (Kharkov region).

The enemy losses amounted to up to 225 troops, seven armoured fighting vehicles, 25 motor vehicles, and one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer. Two radar stations of aerial targets detection, three electronic warfare stations, and seven ammunition depots were neutralised.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and completed the neutralisation of Ukrainian armed formations blocked in the area south of Kleban-Byk Reservoir in Donetsk People's Republic. Russian troops inflicted losses on formations of five mechanised brigades, one assault brigade, one air-mobile brigade, one mountain assault brigade of the AFU, and one territorial defence brigade close to Druzhkovka, Zakotnoye, Konstantinovka, Kramatorsk, Pazeno, Privolye, Reznikovka, Svyato-Pokrovskoye, and Seversk (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 155 troops, one tank, and five armoured fighting vehicles, including U.S.-made HMMWV and MaxxPro armoured vehicles. The AFU has lost 18 motor vehicles, four artillery guns, including two German-made 155-mm Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery systems, one Grad MLRS vehicle, one electronic warfare station, two counter-fire stations, and five ammunition and materiel depots.

Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces improved the situation along the front line. The Tsentr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of one heavy mechanised brigade, five mechanised brigades, one airborne brigade, three air assault brigades, one artillery brigade, two jaeger brigades, three assault regiments of the AFU, two marine brigades, one territorial defence brigade, and three national guard brigades near Vladimirovka, Grishino, Dimitrov, Ivanovka, Krasnoarmeysk, Novonikolayevka, Rodinskoye, Rusin Yar, Sergeyevka, Suvorovo and Torskoye (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 445 troops, five motor vehicles, four artillery guns, including French-made 155-mm Caesar self-propelled artillery systems, Polish-made Krab and Bogdana artillery systems, as well as one electronic warfare station.

As a result of resolute actions, units of the Vostok Group of Forces liberated Novogrigorovka (Zaporozhye region).

One mechanised brigade of the AFU, one marine brigade, one territorial defence brigade, and one national guard brigade have been hit close to Verbovoye, Novonikolayevka, Sosnovka (Dnepropetrovsk region), and Malinovka (Zaporozhye region).

The enemy lost more than 385 troops, one tank, 17 motor vehicles, four artillery guns, one electronic warfare station, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-fire radar station.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of one heavy mechanised brigade of the AFU and one territorial defence brigade near Lukyanovskoye, Malaya Tokmachka, Stepnogorsk (Zaporozhye region), Lvovo and Tyaginka (Kherson region).

More than 70 troops, six motor vehicles, four field artillery guns, an electronic warfare station, as well as U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-fire radar and Israeli-made RADA tactical air surveillance radar stations have been neutralised.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack drones, missile troops and artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have inflicted damage on the traction substation and a rolling stock involved in the AFU units transportation, the infrastructure of the military airfield, assembly workshops and storage areas of unmanned aerial vehicles, a fuel depot, as well as temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 141 areas.

Air defence systems shot down two guided aerial bombs, four U.S.-made HIMARS projectiles, and 218 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 667 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 89,163 unmanned aerial vehicles, 631 anti-aircraft missile systems, 25,410 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,598 MLRS fighting vehicles, 30,280 field artillery guns and mortars, and 43,469 special military vehicles have been neutralised.
