A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.
On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in total, since the beginning of this day, there have been 207 combat clashes.
Russian zagarbniki inflicted 18 aviation strikes on the territory of Ukraine, applying 29 cab. In addition, the Russians engaged 593 kamikaze drones and carried out 3650 shelling at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.
In the Kharkiv direction, from the beginning of the day, the Russian enemy has been conducting offensive actions in the areas of the settlements of Goptivka, Gliboke, High Yaruga, Bugruvatka, Staritsa, a total of seven clashes occurred.
In the Kupâns ліkomu direction, Russian forces seven times carried out assaults of the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the areas of kučervka, tapovoí̈ novoselívka, boguslavka, zagrizovogo and new christinívka. Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks, two are still ongoing.
In the Lyman direction since the beginning of the day, Russian invaders 36 times attacked the positions of Ukrainians near the settlements of Green Gai, Novosergiyivka, Novoyegorivka, Grekivka, Makiyivka, Nadia, Ivanivka, Terni, Toretsk, Grigorivka and in the direction of Druzhelyubivka, Dibrova, Serebryanka. Eighteen attacks are still repelled by Ukrainian defenders.
In the sívers ріkomu direction throughout the day, Russian forces attacked 12 times in the areas of bílogorívka, verkhnyokamâns проkogo, Ivano-daryivka and viymki. One battle is still going on.
In the Kramators блиkomu direction, seven clashes near Vasyukivka, Chasovoye Yar and Stupochok have been recorded, four attacks have already successfully repelled Ukrainian defenders, three more clashes continue.
In the Toretsky direction Russians seven times attacked the positions of Defense Forces. The main attack efforts were concentrated by the occupiers near the settlements of Toretsk and Druzhba. Currently, four clashes continue.
Since the beginning of this day, in the Pokrovsky direction, Russian forces 34 times tried to break through Ukrainian defense near the settlements of Lisivka, Suha Balka, Ray, Zelene, Ukrainka, Dachenko, Shevchenko, Novoukrainka, Pokrovsk, Novovasilívka, Novoelizavetívka and Novoolenivka. Seven brawls are ongoing so far.
The enemy suffers significant losses - today, previously, 390 Russian invaders were defecated in this direction, 161 of them - irrevocably. Three vehicles and 15 Russian communication tools were also destroyed, in addition to that a tank, two vehicles units and two Russian cannons were significantly damaged.
In the Kurakhiv direction, Russian forces attacked 26 times Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Soncivka, Stari Terni, Kurakhove, Yasenove, Dachne and in the direction of Andriyivka. All attacks have already been undone.
In the Vremívs Коkomu direction, the harbinger carried out 36 offensive actions near the Velika Novosilka, Konstantinopilsky, Amber, Uspenivka, Spillway, Rozdolny, Novosilki, Blagodatny, Vremivka and in the area of the settlement of Bagatyr. Eight clashes continue so far.
In the oríhívs мkomu directions, Russian forces once attacked in the area of novoandrívka.
In the pridniprovsky direction, Ukrainian troops repelled three attacks of Russian zagarbnikív.
Defense Forces of Ukraine continue their operation in Kurshchina, where the Russian enemy carried out 26 attacks of Ukrainian units' positions during a day, with one confrontation still ongoing. Russian forces carried out 432 shells.
In other directions, the situation has not changed significantly.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that in Kharkov direction, units of the Sever Group of Forces defeated units of one mechanised brigade of the AFU and one territorial defence brigade close to Borshchevaya, Kazachya Lopan, and Volchansk (Kharkov region).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 55 troops, six motor vehicles, and five 122-mm D-30 howitzers.
In Kharkov region, decisive actions of the Zapad Group of Forces' units allowed to liberate Lozovaya.
Strikes were delivered at manpower and hardware of two mechanised brigades of the AFU and two territorial defence brigades close to Petropavlovka, Glushkovka, Dvurechnaya, Zagryzovo (Kharkov region), Yampolovka, and Terny (Donetsk People's Republic).
Six counter-attacks of the enemy's assault detachments were repelled.
The AFU losses amounted to more than 480 troops, five motor vehicles, one Polish-made 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery system, one U.S.-made Paladin self-propelled artillery system, one UK-made 155-mm FH-70 howitzer, one 152-mm Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, one 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, and three U.S. 105-mm M119 howitzers.
The Yug Group of Forces' units improved the tactical situation and defeated one mechanised brigade, two airmobile brigades, and one mountain assault brigade of the AFU near Zvanovka, Fyodorovka, Zakotnoye, Podolskoye, Dachnoye, Belokuzminovka, and Seversk (Donetsk People's Republic).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 300 Ukrainian troops, one Spartan armoured personnel carrier, three pickup trucks, and two 122-mm D-30 howitzers.
One ammunition depot was wiped out.
The Tsentr Group of Forces' units liberated Krasnoye (Donetsk People's Republic) during active operations.
Strikes were delivered at five mechanised brigades, one infantry brigade, one motorised infantry brigade, one assault brigade of the AFU, one marine brigade, and one assault battalion of the National Police of Ukraine close to Dzerzhinsk, Peschanoye, Andreyevka, Zverevo, Udachnoye, Krasnoarmeysk, Novoolenovka, and Novoelizavetovka.
Eleven counter-attacks of the enemy's assault detachments were repelled.
The AFU losses amounted to up to 480 troops, two tanks, one Varta armoured fighting vehicle, one Kozak armoured fighting vehicle, nine motor vehicles, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, and one U.S.-made 105-mm M101 howitzer.
The Vostok Group of Forces' units continued advancing into the depths of the enemy's defence, defeated detachments of two mechanised brigades of the AFU and two territorial defence brigades near Vremevka, Skudnoye, Konstantinopol (Donetsk People's Republic), and Temirovka (Zaporozhye region).
One counter-attack launched by enemy assault groups was repelled.
The AFU losses amounted to up to 185 troops, two motor vehicles, one 155-mm Bogdana self-propelled artillery system, one 152-mm Akatsiya self-propelled artillery system, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, and one 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system.
The Dnepr Group of Forces' units engaged manpower and hardware of one mountain assault brigade and one territorial defence brigade near Stepovoye, Malye Shcherbaki (Zaporozhye region), Sadovoye and Antonovka (Kherson region).
The AFU losses amounted to up to 75 troops, one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer, two 152-mm D-20 howitzers, and one 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system.
One electronic warfare station, one electronic-intelligence station, and one ammunition depot were wiped out.
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have hit the infrastructure of military airfields, workshops for the production of strike drones, places where they are stored and prepared for launch, and clusters of manpower and military hardware of the AFU and mercenaries of the Foreign Legion in 138 areas.
Air defence systems have shot down one Neptune long-range guided missile, two U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles, and 100 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 650 aircraft and 283 helicopters, 38,341 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 19,952 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,504 MLRS combat vehicles, 19,932 field artillery guns and mortars, and 29,427 units of special military vehicles have been neutralised.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to defeat AFU formations in Kursk region.
In the course of offensive operations, units of the Sever Group of Forces defeated formations of one heavy mechanised brigade, five mechanised brigades, three air assault brigades, one marine brigade, and four AFU territorial defence brigades close to Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Kositsa, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Leonidovo, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Nikolayevka, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novaya Sorochina, Russkoye Porechnoye, Sverdlikovo, and Cherkasskaya Konopelka. Three counter-attacks launched by enemy assault groups were repelled.
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation and artillery inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the enemy near Guyevo, Kruglenkoye, Melovoye, Nikolsky, Staraya Sorochina, and Basovka, Belovody, Vodolagi, and Zhuravka in Sumy region.
Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses were more than 260 troops, two tanks, to include one German-made Leopard tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, two armoured personnel carriers, seven armoured fighting vehicles, six mortars, and one electronic warfare station.
Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the AFU losses amounted to more than 43,010 troops, 251 tanks, 191 infantry fighting vehicles, 132 armoured personnel carriers, 1,312 armoured fighting vehicles, 1,166 motor vehicles, 323 artillery guns, 42 MLRS launchers, including 11 of HIMARS and six of MLRS made by the USA, 13 anti-aircraft missile launchers, seven transport-loading vehicles, 79 EW stations, 13 counter-battery warfare radars, four air defence radars, 27 units of engineering and other materiel, including 13 counterobstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armoured recovery vehicles, and one command post vehicle.
The operation to neutralise the AFU units is in progress.
