A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to withhold the pressure of the Russian occupation troops. The situation in the Kupyansky and Kurakhiv directions remains tense - Russia is focusing the main offensive efforts there. In addition, the occupiers are actively attacking the síversky and pokrovsky directions today.

So far, there have been 158 combat clashes. Today, Russia launched two missile strikes with two rockets, 57 air strikes, dropping 101 KAB. In addition, the Russian zombies used 539 kamikaze drones for strikes and carried out about 3,000 shells at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian terrorists four times stormed the positions of Ukrainian units in the areas of Vovchansk and Liptsiv. One battle is brewing.
22 times Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions in the kupâns зиkomu direction. Near Sinkivka, Kolisnikivka, Zagrizovoy, Golubivka, Steppoí̈ Novoselivka, Novoosinovoy, Brestovoy, Boguslavka and Lozova units of Defense Forces repelled 17 attacks. There are five fighting in the areas of Boguslavka, Zagrizovogo, Kolisnikivki and Novoosinovogo.
In the Lyman direction for today, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian defenders 15 times in the areas of Grekivka, Druzhelyubivka, Cherneshchyna, Novomikhailivka, Nevsky, Terniv, Torsky, Serebryanka and Yampolivka, all attacks of the Russian enemy were repelled.
Russian forces tried 13 times with assault actions to push Ukrainian defenders out of positions in the areas of Bilogorivka, Verkhnyokamiansky, Zvanivka, Ivano-Daryivka in the Siversky direction.
In the Kramators биkomu direction Ukrainian warriors fought off two attempts of zagarbnikív to move forward in the area of stupochok.
In the Torec ціїkomu direction, where the Russian invaders attacked Ukrainian positions - four confrontations have already been completed. The battle is ongoing near Scherbinivka.

The main efforts of the Russian enemy continues to be in the Kurakhiv direction. Zagarbniki at this time of the day made 42 attempts to move forward. The 10 attacks continue. In the Pridniprovsk direction, Russian forces carried out four unsuccessful assaults of the positions of Ukrainian units.
Defense Forces of Ukraine continue operations in the Kursk direction.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that in Kharkov direction, units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted losses on formations of the 57th Motorised Infantry Brigade of the AFU and 112th Territorial Defence Brigade near Volchansk and Okhrimovka (Kharkov region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 85 troops, one armoured personnel carrier, two motor vehicles, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the 14th, 30th, 43rd, 44th, 60th, 63rd mechanised brigades, and 115th Territorial Defence Brigade near Petropavlovka, Borovskaya Andreyevka, Senkovo, Lozovaya, Novoosinovo (Kharkov region), Chervonaya Dibrova (Lugansk People's Republic), and Terny (Donetsk People's Republic).

Four counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the 28th Mechanised Brigade of the AFU and 1st National Guard Brigade were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to more than 480 troops, one infantry fighting vehicle, one Kozak armoured fighting vehicle, four motor vehicles as well as one M113 armoured personnel carrier, one 155-mm M198 howitzer, and one 105-mm M101 gun made by the USA. Two AFU ammunition depots were destroyed.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions and liberated Katerinovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

Losses were inflicted on formations of the 24th, 33rd, 54th, 110th mechanised brigades, 79th Air Assault Brigade, and 46th Airmobile Brigade of the AFU near Zaliznyanskoye, Orekhovo-Vasilevka, Markovo, Stupochki, Stepanovka, Ilyinka, Chasov Yar, and Kurakhovo (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 985 troops, one German-made Leopard tank, one infantry fighting vehicle, one armoured personnel carrier, two motor vehicles, and one U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS launcher.

Three Anklav-N electronic warfare stations and three field ammunition depots were destroyed.

As a result of active operations, units of the Tsentr Group of Forces liberated Gornyak (Donetsk People's Republic).

Losses were inflicted on manpower and hardware of the 24th Mechanised Brigade, 59th Motorised Infantry Brigade, 68th Jaeger Brigade, 25th Airborne Brigade of the AFU, 35th Marine Brigade, 111th and 119th territorial defence brigades near Dimitrov, Tarasovka, Krasnoye, Selidovo, Novoalekseyevka, Voznesenka, Lysovka, and Leninskoye (Donetsk People's Republic).

Thirteen counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the 23rd, 100th mechanised brigades, 68th, 152nd jaeger brigades, 25th Airborne Brigade of the AFU, and 35th Marine Brigade were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to more than 500 troops, one Turkish-made Kirpi armoured fighting vehicle, two motor vehicles, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, two 152-mm D-20 guns, and three 122-mm D-30 howitzers.

Units of the Vostok Group of Forces improved the tactical situation along the front line and liberated Dobrovolye (Donetsk People's Republic).

Losses were inflicted on manpower and hardware of 72nd Mechanised Brigade, 58th Motorised Infantry Brigade of the AFU, and 123rd Territorial Defence Brigade near Uspenovka, Maksimovka, and Razdolnoye (Donetsk People's Republic). One counter-attack launched by an assault detachment of the 113th Territorial Defence Brigade was repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 125 troops, eight motor vehicles, one 203-mm Pion self-propelled artillery system, two U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzers, and one French-made 155-mm CAESAR self-propelled artillery system.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on formations of the 117th Mechanised Brigade, 141st Infantry Brigade of the AFU, 124th and 126th territorial defence brigades near Novodanilovka (Zaporozhye region), Kamyshany, and Nikolskoye (Kherson region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 65 troops, eight motor vehicles, and one 152-mm D-20 gun. One Anklav-N electronic warfare station and two ammunition depots were destroyed.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces delivered strikes at airfield infrastructure of the Ukrainian Air Force, the UAV Command Centre of the General Staff of the AFU, as well as engaged manpower clusters and military hardware in 139 areas.

Air defence units shot down three U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles and 98 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 647 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 34,783 unmanned aerial vehicles, 584 anti-aircraft missile systems, 18,902 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,481 MLRS combat vehicles, 16,927 field artillery guns and mortars, and 27,720 units of support military vehicles have been neutralised.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation also reported that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the operation to neutralise an enemy group, which broke into the territory of Kursk region.

Units of the Sever Group of Forces continued offensive actions and inflicted losses on formations of the 22nd, 41st, 115th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 36th Marine Brigade, 103rd, 112th, and 129th territorial defence brigades of the AFU near Daryino, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novoivanovka, and Plyokhovo.

Units of the Sever Group of Forces repelled five enemy counter-attacks in the direction of Daryino and Novoivanovka. The AFU losses amounted to up to 60 troops killed and wounded, two infantry fighting vehicles, five armoured fighting vehicles, and seven motor vehicles.

Army Aviation and artillery strikes inflicted losses on manpower clusters and hardware of the 21st, 22nd, 41st, 47th, 61st, 115th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, 36th Marine Brigade, 1st Special Operations Brigade, 103rd, 112th, 129th territorial defence brigades, and 17th National Guard Brigade near Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Gogolevka, Guyevo, Daryino, Zeleny Shlyakh, Kazachya Loknya, Kruglenkoye, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Leonidovo, Malaya Loknya, Mikhaylovka, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Novy Put, Plyokhovo, Sverdlikovo, Sudzha, Tolsty Lug, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.

Operational-Tactical Aviation and Missile Troops inflicted losses on concentration areas in Sumy region and reserves of the 21st, 47th, 61st, 115th mechanised brigades, 17th Tank Brigade, 95th Air Assault Brigade, 103rd, 129th territorial defence brigades, and 1st National Guard Brigade near Basovka, Belovody, Vladimirovka, Varachino, Zhuravka, Korchakovka, Loknya, Miropolye, Obody, Osoyevka, Pavlovka, and Yunakovka.

Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses amounted to more than 400 troops and 16 units of hardware, including two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, 12 armoured fighting vehicles as well as four artillery guns, namely, one Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery system, one mortar, one electronic warfare station, one counter-battery radar, one armoured recovery vehicle, and 24 motor vehicles.

Since the beginning of hostilities in Kursk region, the AFU losses amounted to more than 27,950 servicemen, 179 tanks, 100 infantry fighting vehicles, 106 armoured personnel carriers, 1,032 armoured fighting vehicles, 734 motor vehicles, 240 artillery guns, 40 MLRS launchers, including 11 of HIMARS and six of MLRS made by the USA, nine anti-aircraft missile launchers, seven transport and loading vehicles, 58 EW stations, 12 counter-battery warfare radars, three air defence radars, 24 pieces of engineering and other equipment, including 13 counterobstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, four armoured recovery vehicles, and one command post vehicle.

The operation to neutralise the AFU units is in progress.
