Russo-Ukraine War - 25 June 2024 - Day 853

A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

"To initiate a war of aggression... is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." [Judgment of the International Military Tribunal]

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Ukrainian military continues to decisively give an offence to the Russian enemy's attempts to advance deep into Ukrainian territory, giving him an effective fire effect, exhausting across the entire frontline.

123 combat clashes have taken place since the beginning of the day.

During the day, aviation, missile troops and artillery of the Defense Forces hit 10 personnel concentration areas and two Russian control points.

Russian zagarbniki carried out 43 aviation strikes on the territory of Ukraine with the use of 60 kabs, also engaged 368 kamikadze drones. Along with that, Russia has fired over 2,700 shelling on positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements with barrel and jet artillery, mortars, firearms and armaments of fighting vehicles.

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian occupiers throughout the day supported by aviation attacked eight times in the areas of deep, vovchansk and tihogo. Defense Forces units have successfully repelled five Russian offensive actions, three more clashes are currently ongoing.
In the Kupyansky direction, Russian forces made 10 attempts to push Ukrainian units from occupied positions near the settlements of Sinkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Pičnna, Stelmakhivka and Andriyivka. Nine Russian attacks were successfully repelled. The tense situation remains in the area of the stepovoí̈ novoselívka, where the fight is still taking place.
In the Lyman direction Russian zagarbniki 15 times tried to advance in the areas of Kopanok, Grekivka, Makiyivka, Nevsky and Serebryansky forest. Defenders of Ukraine repelled 12 Russian attacks, the fights continue. Measures are being taken to prevent invaders from moving deep into Ukrainian territory.
In the Sívers зkomu direction, the setting of significant changes has not been experienced. Since the beginning of the day, the Russian occupiers have carried out 13 unsuccessful assault actions near Bílogorivka, Verkhnyokamâns Відkogo, Spirnogo and Viiymka. The situation is under the control of Defense Forces units.
Nine Russian attempts to approach Ukrainian positions near the Time Yar, Ivanivsky and Andriyivka, in the Kramatorsky direction, failed. At the same time, the Russian occupiers do not give up their intentions to advance in the area of Chasovoye Yar, where the confrontation is still ongoing. The situation is under the control of Ukrainian defenders.
In the Toretsky direction, the situation of significant changes has not been experienced and remains tense. With aviation support, Russian forces attacked 11 times near Toretsk, Northern and New York. All assault actions of the units of the Defense Forces repelled. Measures are being taken to increase the resilience of defense.
The high intensity of combat is maintained in the Pokrovsky direction. The number of battles has increased to 42. Zagarbniki continue to pressure the military order of defenders of Ukraine near Evgenivka, Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvizhenka, Novoselivka the First and Yasnobrodivka. 35 Russian attacks have been repelled by Ukrainian soldiers, ongoing battles in the areas of Novooleksandrivka and Sokola.
Previous Russian forces losses in this direction were 271 occupiers killed and injured. One tank, three combat armored vehicles, two cannons and two cars were destroyed. The losses are in the making.
In the Kurakhiv direction since the beginning of the day, six fighting took place. Two assault actions of the Zagarbnytsky troops near Georgíivka and Konstantinivka were unsuccessful. At the same time, the activity of the Russian enemy near krasnogorivka where fighting continues.
In the vremívs Наkomu and oríhivs обkomu directions, the situation has not changed. Russian attacks in the areas of Konstantinívka, Urozhaynogo, Mala Tokmachka and Robotinogo were not successful. Loss of positions and territories is not allowed.
In the Pridniprovsky direction, four Russian assault actions did not succeed. The situation is under control.

In other directions, the situation is without significant changes.

Defense Forces confidently restrain the pressure of Russian occupation troops. Separately, the soldiers of the 47th separate mechanized brigade "Ma відura" should be noted, who bravely hold their positions, skillfully repel Russian forces attacks, effectively apply the tools of fire on live force and technique, inflicting tangible losses to the Russian ccupiers.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that units of the Sever Group of Forces continued to engage in active combat operations and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 36th Marines Brigade, 57th Motorised Infantry Brigade, and 71st Jaeger Brigade near Volchansk, Ternovaya, and Tikhoye (Kharkov region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 235 Ukrainian troops, two motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer, two 152-mm D-20 howitzers, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions, as well as inflicted losses on formations of the AFU 14th, 54th, and 66th mechanised brigades near Petropavlovka, Sinkovka (Kharkov region), Platonovka (Donetsk People's Republic), and Makeyevka (Lugansk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 445 Ukrainian troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, five motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155-mm M198 howitzer, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, one 122-mm 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, and one U.S.-made 105-mm M119 howitzer.

In addition, one AFU ammunition depot has been destroyed.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces improved the tactical situation along the front lines and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 72nd Mechanised Brigade, 46th, and 81st airmobile brigades near Konstantinovka and Kurakhovo (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 830 Ukrainian troops, two armoured personnel carriers, seven motor vehicles, two U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzers, one U.S.-made 155-mm M198 howitzer, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, one U.S.-made 105-mm M119 howitzer, and one electronic warfare station.

Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions, as well as inflicted losses on formations of the AFU 24th Mechanised Brigade and 2nd Territorial Defence Brigade near Toretsk and Mikhailovka (Donetsk People's Republic).

Three counter-attacks launched by AFU units were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 560 Ukrainian troops, one tank, eight motor vehicles, three U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzers, three 152-mm Msta-B howitzers, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, and three 122-mm D-30 howitzers.

Units of the Vostok Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 128th Territorial Defence Brigade near Velikaya Novosyolka (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to more than 150 Ukrainian troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer, one UK-made 155-mm FH-70 howitzer, one 152-mm 2A65 Msta-B howitzer, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Force delivered strikes at manpower and hardware of the AFU 35th Marines Brigade near Ivanovka (Kherson region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 125 Ukrainian troops, five motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, one 122-mm D-30 howitzer, and one U.S.-made 105-mm M109 howitzer.

Operational-Tactical and Army Aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Groups of Forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed two AFU materiel depots, one P-18 air target detection and tracking radar station, as well as engaged manpower and military hardware in 128 areas.

Air defence units shot down 79 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and four U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles.

In total, 613 airplanes and 276 helicopters, 26,566 unmanned aerial vehicles, 533 air defence missile systems, 16,423 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,348 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 10,856 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 22,924 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
