A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that so far, since the beginning of the day, there have been 103 combat encounters. Ukrainian defenders counter numerous attempts of the enemy to attack and advance deep into Ukrainian territory, giving them an effective fire effect, exhaustion across the entire line of combat.

Russian forces launched 49 air strikes (dropped 101 KABs) and carried out 486 kamikaze drone strikes, carried out 3109 shelling positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements.

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian occupiers four times unsuccessfully attacked Ukrainian positions in the areas of deep and vovčans ківka. According to preliminary information, Russia has lost 105 people in this direction, 36 of them are irreversible. Heading to the north. Since the beginning of the day, Russia has made three attempts to infiltrate the combat order of Ukrainian units in the areas of Rozdolívka and Verkhnyokamâns Відkogo The situation is controlled - the battle is sharpening.
Since the beginning of the day in the Kramatorsky direction, Russian occupiers have attacked Ukrainian positions four times in the areas of Chasovoye Yar and Ivanivsky. Success has not been attained.
The situation is tense in the Toretsky direction. Russian forces attacked near Northern, Toretsk and New York 18 times unsuccessfully.
The hottest situation today was in the Pokrovsky direction, where Russian forces attacked 32 times Ukrainian positions in the areas of Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvizhenka, Progresa, Sokola, Novoselivka Pershoi, Kalinovoye and Karlivka. 27 attacks were carried out by Ukrainian defenders. The situation near novooleksandrivka and progressa remains tense, where there are still five boêzitknen жено. Ukrainian defenders keep the Russian enemy down.
During the day, previously, Russian forces lost 219 people dead and injured. A tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, an artillery system, five vehicles and two motorcycles were also destroyed. 16 more units of military equipment were damaged, including six cannons and mortars.

There were 13 enemy attacks in the vremívs комуkomu direction. Near Vodyany and Konstantinivka, four were imprinted. Fighting continues in five locations near Urozhynogo, and four Russian attempts to advance here are completed.
In the direction of Gulyaipils Наkomu, the situation has not experienced significant changes. A single attack has been made. Losing positions is unacceptable, the situation is controlled by Ukrainian defenders.
In the Pridniprovsk direction, Russian forces do not leave hope to push out Ukrainian defenders from placzdarmív on the left bank of the Dnieper. Two Russian offensive actions failed.
In the rest of the directions, the situation has not experienced significant changes.

Today, the soldiers of the 118th separate mechanized brigade, who firmly hold positions in southern Ukraine should be noted.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 115th Mechanised Brigade, 106th, 117th, 125th territorial defence brigades, and 13th National Guard Brigade bear Basovka, Novenkoye, Veselovka (Sumi region), Volchansk, and Liptsy (Kharkov region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 355 Ukrainian troops, one tank, and six pickup trucks.

In the course of counter-battery warfare, one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer, one Polish-made 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery system, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, one 100-mm MT-12 Rapira gun, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery warfare station were neutralised.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and inflicted losses on formations of the AFU 14th, 44th, 116th mechanised brigades, and 1st National Guard Brigade near Sinkovka, Berestovoye (Kharkov region), Olivovskiy Yar and Serebryansky forestry.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 460 Ukrainian troops, one tank, three armoured personnel carriers, including two U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carriers, 11 motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155-mm M-198 howitzer, two 152-mm Msta-B howitzers, one 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, and one Anklav-N electronic warfare station.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces improved the tactical situation along the front lines as well as inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 24th, 72nd mechanised brigades, 46th Airmobile Brigade, and 79th Air Assault Brigade near Konstantinovka, Kurakhovo, Iliynka, and Chasov Yar (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 700 Ukrainian troops, one tank, two Kozak armoured fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, one UK-made 155-mm AS-90 self-propelled artillery system, four 152-mm D-20 howitzers, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, one U.S.-made 105-mm M119 howitzer, and two UK-made L-119 howitzers.

Moreover, one BM-21 Grad MLRS combat vehicle, two Anklav electronic warfare stations, and two U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery warfare stations were destroyed.

Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and liberated Voshod (Donetsk People's Republic).

Losses were inflicted on formations of the AFU 31st, 41st, 47th mechanised brigades, 109th, and 129th territorial defence brigades near Progress, Rozovka, Novgorodskoye, Novosyolovka Pervaya, and Toretsk (Donetsk People's Republic).

Five counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the AFU 31st, 32nd, and 47th mechanised brigades were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 335 Ukrainian troops, two infantry fighting vehicles, including one U.S.-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, two motor vehicles, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, one U.S.-made 105-mm M119 howitzer, four 100-mm MT-12 Rapira guns, and one AN/TPQ-36 U.S.-made counter-battery warfare station.

Units of the Vostok Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 58th Motorised Infantry Brigade and 110th Territorial Defence Brigade near Prechistovka, Urozhaynoye (Donetsk People's Republic), and Gulai Pole (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 155 Ukrainian troops, two armoured fighting vehicles, eight motor vehicles, one UK-made 155-mm FH-70 howitzer, and one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 141st Infantry Brigade and 128th Mountain Assault Brigade near Pyatikhatki, Zherebyanka, and Kamenskoye (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 85 Ukrainian troops, seven motor vehicles, one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer, one U.S.-made 105-mm M119 howitzer, one Anklav-N electronic warfare station, and one Plastun electronic reconnaissance system.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces engaged AFU manpower and hardware clusters in 127 areas during the day.

Air defence units shot down 24 unmanned aerial vehicles and five U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles.

In total, 627 airplanes and 277 helicopters, 27,520 unmanned aerial vehicles, 545 air defence missile systems, 16,551 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,374 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 11,718 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 23,551 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
