A number of claims and counterclaims are being made on the Ukraine-Russia conflict on the ground and online. While GlobalSecurity.org takes utmost care to accurately report this news story, we cannot independently verify the authenticity of all statements, photos and videos.

On 24 February 2022, Ukraine was suddenly and deliberately attacked by land, naval and air forces of Russia, igniting the largest European war since the Great Patriotic War. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a "special military operation" (SVO - spetsialnaya voennaya operatsiya) in Ukraine in response to the appeal of the leaders of the "Donbass republics" for help. That attack is a blatant violation of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Putin stressed that Moscow's goal is the demilitarization and denazification of the country. The military buildup in preceeding months makes it obvious that the unprovoked and dastardly Russian attack was deliberately planned long in advance. During the intervening time, the Russian government had deliberately sought to deceive the world by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The UK Ministry of Defence reported that open-source reporting has highlighted that Ukrainian forces have damaged or destroyed 26 Russian Navy vessels operating in the Black Sea region between February 2022 and June 2024. Strikes have occurred across the northern region of the Black Sea and within the Sea of Azov.

There has been an increase in the frequency and level of damage caused by attacks around the Crimean Peninsula over the last year, with nearly two thirds of strikes occurring within this period.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the situation on the line of combat remains complex but controlled. The Defense Forces of Ukraine are constantly conducting combat aimed at disrupting the aggressor's offensive plans, destroying his personnel and equipment.

Since the beginning of the day, there have been 128 combat clashes.

Russian forces launched three missile strikes (using six missiles), 56 air strikes (78 CABs in particular) and 419 kamikaze drones, launching 2,932 shells at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements with artillery and other types of weapons.
In the Kharkiv direction, Russian occupiers six times tried to storm the defense borders in the area of Vovchansk, Staritsi and Liptsiv. The situation is under control of Ukrainian troops. According to current information, Ukrainian soldiers have eliminated 44 Russian occupiers, three artillery systems, a combat armored vehicle, ten units of vehicles, 20 BPLAs in this direction. Russian forces also lost 78 wounded soldiers, one of his PPO equipment, two artillery systems, four special and vehicle units were damaged.
Ten times Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions in the Kupyan direction. Five assault actions near the settlements of Berestove and Pishtnya were successfully carried out. Four clashes continue near Sinkivka. Another attack is ongoing near Brestovoye.
In the Lyman direction Russian troops made 16 attack attempts near Grekivka, Nevsky, Makiyivka and Terniv. Three attacks are ongoing in the area of makííí̈vka. The situation is under control.
In the sívers Наkomu direction, the Russian aggressor spent five assault actions. Locations of combat clashes in the areas of Bílogorivka, Verkhnyokamâns онаkogo, Viymki and Rozdolívka. All the efforts of the Russian enemy were in vain.
In the Kramators торkomu direction, Ukrainian troops stopped five Russian near the Chasovoye Yar, Grigorívka and Andriyivka. Two clashes are not over yet.
In the Toretsky direction, the Russians tried 14 times to infiltrate Ukrainian defense borders near the settlements North, South and New York. 11 attacks have been hit, three are still ongoing. According to preliminary calculations, the Russian losses consist of more than 60 personnel and two artillery systems.
Most intensively Russian attacks in the Pokrovsky direction. Here, since the beginning of the day, there have been 40 assault actions of Russians. Seven attacks near the settlements of Novooleksandrivka, Vozdvizhenka, Novoselivka Persha, Evgenivka continues.
Russians pay a big price for trying to advance in the Pokrovsky direction. The loss of the Russian opponent from the beginning of the day in the personnel here are: Bezovorotnimi - 99 occupants; sanítarnimi - 175. Two cannons, a mortar and eight units of car equipment were destroyed. Among the damaged Russian equipment are two 2A65 "Msta-B", two 120-mm mortars, a combat armored machine and two units of automobile equipment.
In the Kurakhiv direction, the harbors tried to advance 11 times in the areas of settlements Netailove, Konstantinivka, Krasnogorivka and Paraskoviyivka, but - unsuccessfully. Two clashes are ongoing near Neytalovy.
In the vremívs міkomu direction, there were nine Russian attacks in the areas of vodânogo and harvest. Five Russian assault actions are still ongoing. Defense forces are under control.
In the Gulyaipil direction, units of Ukrainian troops repelled four Russian attacks in the direction of Gulyaipol. Three of them down, one more in progress.
In the oríhívs ляkomu direction suffered three Russian attempts to move forward near small tokmačka and novoandrívka.

Defense Forces confidently restrain the pressure of Russian occupation troops. Separately, it is worth noting the warriors of 66 separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave, who courageously hold positions and skillfully repel Russian attacks.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the units of the Sever Group of Forces have engaged manpower and hardware of the AFU 31st Mechanised Brigade, 34th, 36th marine brigades, 113th, 127th territorial defence brigades, and the 13th National Guard Brigade close to Volchansk, Malye Prokhody, Borschevaya, Vilcha, Glubokoye, and Liptsy (Kharkov region).

Two counter-attacks by the AFU 92nd Assault Brigade and the 42nd Separate Assault Battalion have been repelled.

The AFU losses were up to 275 Ukrainian troops, one Kazak armoured fighting vehicle, two motor vehicles, one 155-mm U.S.-made M777 howitzer, 122-mm D-30 howitzer, and one Anklav-N electronic warfare station.

The units of the Zapad Group of Forces have captured more advantageous lines, defeated 14th, 30th, 44th mechanised brigades of the AFU, the 110th Territorial Defence, the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade near Kupyansk, Sinkovka, Petropavlovka (Kharkov region), Makeyevka (Lugansk People's Republic), and Torskoye (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses were up to 495 Ukrainian troops, one tank, eight motor vehicles, one U.S.-made M777 howitzer, two 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery systems, one 152-mm D-20 howitzers, one Anklav-N electronic warfare station, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery warfare station.

The units of the Yug Group of Forces have improved the situation along the front line and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of 28th, 31st, 33rd, 118th mechanised, 79th air assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Dyleyevka, Grigorovka, Krasnoye, Chasov Yar, Yelizavetovka, Uspenovka, Dalneye, and Kurakhovo (Donetsk People's Republic).

The AFU losses were up to 600 Ukrainian troops, six motor vehicles, two 152-mm D-20 howitzers, and two 105-mm U.S.-made M119 howitzers.

In addition, two Anklav electronic warfare stations and one field ammunition depot have been eliminated.

The units of the Tsentr Group of Forces have improved the tactical situation and inflicted losses on 32nd, 41st, 47nd, 110th, 118th mechanised brigades of the AFU and the 129th Territorial Defence Brigade close to Vozdvizhenka, Yelizavetovka, Artyomovo, Druzhba, Timofeyevka, and Toretsk (Donetsk People's Republic).

Five counter-attacks of AFU 31st mechanised, 142nd infantry, and 95th air assault brigades have been repelled.

The AFU losses were up to 510 Ukrainian troops, one German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle, two motor vehicles, and two 122-mm D-30 howitzers.

The units of the Vostok Group of Forces have captured more advantageous lines and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of AFU 1st tank, 58th motorised infantry, 128th territorial defence brigades, the 21st National Guard Brigade near Oktyabr, Urozhainoye, and Velikaya Novosyolka (Donetsk People's Republic).

In addition, Russian troops have repelled one attack launched by an assault detachment of the 108th Territorial Defence Brigade.

The AFU losses were up to 135 Ukrainian troops, three motor vehicles, one 155-mm UK-made FH-70 howitzer, one 155-mm U.S.-made M198 howitzer, and one 155-mm Bogdana self-propelled artillery system.

In addition, one enemy field ammunition depot has also been destroyed.

The units of the Dnepr Group of Forces have engaged manpower and hardware of the AFU 22nd Mechanised Brigade, the 35th Marine Brigade close to Antonovka, Tokarevka, and Sadovoye (Kherson region).

The AFU losses were up to 85 Ukrainian troops, four motor vehicles, and two 152-mm D-20 howitzers.

One artillery ammunition depot has been destroyed.

Operational-Tactical Aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups have eliminated one U.S.-made AN/MPQ-46 radar station, three U.S.-made Imroved HAWK surface-to-air missile system launchers, storage depots for AFU uncrewed boats have been hit, as well as AFU manpower and military hardware clusters in 131 areas.

Air defence facilities have shot down one Mig-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force, 55 unmanned aerial vehicles, four U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, three U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles, and four French-made HAMMER guided aerial bombs.

In total, 627 airplanes and 277 helicopters, 27,496 unmanned aerial vehicles, 545 air defence missile systems, 16,539 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,373 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 11,685 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 23,515 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
