Op Deterrence of Aggression - 29 November 2024
The Military Operations Department announced November 29, 2024, the liberation of the Scientific Research Center, which enjoys a strategic location directly west of the city of Aleppo, after the liberation of the strategic town of Mansoura directly west of the center of Aleppo, after fierce battles with Assad's forces and Iranian militias, as part of the third day of the "Deterrence of Aggression" operation.
On other fronts, the liberation of the strategic town of Khan Touman, south of Aleppo, which is known as a graveyard and nightmare for Iranian militias, was announced, in addition to the liberation of Jab Kas, Al-Talhiyah, Tal Al-Karatin, Al-Bawabiyah, Abu Qansa, Zitan, and Al-Salihiyah in the Aleppo and Idlib countrysides, and the capture of 4 tanks from the village of Al-Salihiyah in the southern Aleppo countryside.
In addition to liberating the villages of "Al-Bawabiya and Al-Talhiya" south of Aleppo, "Tal Karatin village" and the village of Maardabsa east of Idlib, and the village of Barna, dozens were killed in the ranks of the regime forces and Iranian militias on the axes (Khan Al-Sabil and Jobas) with concentrated strikes by the "Military Operations Administration", amid violent clashes to liberate the two towns located south of the city of Saraqib.
By 29 November 2024, there were few signs of resistance, Aleppo itself and all fortified positions surrendered without a fight. Syrian army equipment was abandoned on the approaches to Aleppo, mostly left standing in storage areas. It is noteworthy that none of the videos published by the opposition factions from the streets of Aleppo even show signs of clashes. Saraqib in Idlib province, recaptured from the Syrian army in just a couple of days of low-intensity fighting. The city is located southwest of Aleppo at the strategic crossroads of the Aleppo-Damascus and Aleppo-Latakia roads. The loss of Saraqib to the SAA effectively cuts off Aleppo from Hama, Homs and Damascus.
The Syrian army continued to learn the art of modern warfare in practice, where small drones play the leading role. So far, however, only as targets for militants. What they had been doing all these years is absolutely unclear, at least they watched videos from Ukraine on the Internet out of boredom.
The "Deterrence of Aggression" battle announced by the "Joint Operations Administration", which includes the military factions of the revolution in Idlib and northern Aleppo, far from the names and individual adoption, surprised not only the enemy forces represented by the regime's army and the Iranian militias, but even the friendly sons of the revolution who oppose opening any battle at the present time with unpredictable results. In less than 24 hours, the "Deterrence of Aggression" operation achieved great progress that exceeded the expectations of analysts and observers. The revolutionary factions, with all their components, fought fierce battles around the clock.
The offensive is in fact the first major battle between the insurgents and Syrian government forces since spring 2020, when a Turkey-Russia negotiated ‘de-escalation’/general ceasefire was imposed on the northwest region and thereby marking the overall freezing of the conflict.
Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said 29 November 2024 that Russia's support for Syria and its people, and its commitment to preserving its independence and sovereignty, and its full awareness that Syria is the basis for ensuring security and stability in the region, noting that "the policy of Western powers, primarily the United States and Britain, in spreading chaos through armed and terrorist groups has become exposed." Zakharova considered that "the illegal military presence of American forces in Syria is similar to the presence of groups of criminal militants who steal its natural resources and wealth," stressing "Russia's position of rejection and condemnation of the continued hostile American approach towards Syria."
Ismail Baghaei, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said 29 November 2024 in the first official Iranian comment on the "Operation Deterrence of Aggression" battle in northwestern Syria that what is happening is part of the "American-Zionist project for the region". On November 28, Iranian Persian-language media mourned IRGC Brigadier General Kiomars Pourhashemi, commander of Iranian military advisers in Aleppo, as a result of the ongoing deterrence operation in northwestern Syria.
