PAVN Ground Forces Order of Battle
Students of the history of the Vietnam War will recall that developing a reliable order of battle estimate for the Communist forces proved problematic. This remains the case. The most estimable Orbat.com rated their profile in 2009 as "RELIABILITY INDEX 5 (VERY POOR)". The excellent Austrian Army Trupendienst "Militär International" does not even include a profile for Vietam. And the few sources that do offer an actual order of battle [as opposed to a simple inventory of units] are in considerable disagreement. The official PAVN website is surprisingly good on Corps and Military Regions, but not surprisingly does not venture into lower ecehlons.
In contrast to some other militaries [Ukraine comes to mind], PAVN units do not appear to feature distinctive unit insignia, one of the few militaries in the world so distinguished.
