1 Corps (aka: Corps of Decisive Victory) under the Vietnam Ministry of Defense 's Army First People's Army of Vietnam, was established on 10.24.1973 in Ninh Binh. In Ho Chi Minh Campaign (26 - 04.30.1975), 1 Corps captured General Staff Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam (04/30/1975). Headquarters Command: Tam Diep town, province of Ninh Binh.

Army Corps 1, the first large scale maneuver unit of the Vietnam People's Army, was established on 24 October 1973. The Commander and Political Commissar of the first Corps were Le Trong Tan and Le Quang Hoa. Now the 1 Corps Commander works with the Deputy Commander, Political Commissar, Deputy Political Commissar; the authorities in charge of the side advisory work, politics, logistics, engineering and other affiliated entities.

Previous developments in the field advanced the objective conditions and subjective problems for Corps building, where the army had very high mobility, firepower, force major raid. The decisive force in campaigns became a significant strategic objective, in accordance with the laws of the development of the troops. Executive Resolution No. 21 of the Plenum of the Party Central Committee on strengthening the military toward unification, May 10/1973, Central Military Commission and the Ministry of Defense proposed to establish the Corps as a mainstay of Vietnam People's Army. On 10/24/1973, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Defense Minister signed Decision No. 124 / QD-QP, 1 Corps was established.

Shortly after its inception, with conditions of stabilized staffing organization and trained troops, with preparation of the material and technical base, 1 Corps urgently became a major Corps of strategic maneuver of Vietnam People's Army: the combat potential was high, potentially focused on synergistic combat on a large scale.

In the spring of 1975 the offensive culminated in in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign. In the history of this campaign, 1 Corps successfully implemented the tasks ready to fight to protect the socialist North. Behind the national strategy, initiatives overcame tremendous difficulties in maneuver, logistics, technical and battlefield preparation. The Corps organized a "speedy" march - unprecedented in the history of Vietanmese troops - from North to South in just 11 days and nights over 1,700 km long, and then joined in direct combat on the north of Saigon in the Ho Chi Minh Campaign history.

Sensitive to the situation, that took the initiative and seize the opportunity, determined to accurately and creatively apply synergistic art combat arms, suitable for practical battlefield, the fighting style "god speed, daring, be unexpected, win" - the Corps determined to attack, invade unexpectedly to take bold goals of strategic importance in the defense system of the enemy on the north of Saigon. The Corps destroyed the headquarters of the Saigon puppet troops, an important contribution to the liberation of Saigon, the liberation of the South, and unification - building the glorious tradition of "God speed - Decisive victory" of the Corps.

Right after the country was liberated, before it was urgently required by the revolutionary cause, 1 Corps once again perform the operation "God speed" returned from the South North on duty ready to fight, a mobile strategic reserve. According to the decision of the Ministry of Defense, the organizational structure of the Corps include: Corps Command. Three agencies Corps: General Staff, Department of Politics, Department of Logistics. Units established: 308 Infantry Division, 312th Infantry Division, Infantry Division 320B (later renamed 390), Division 367 rooms, 202 armored Brigades, 45 Artillery Brigade, infantry brigade and regiment information 299 140.
