Replenisher Logistic Support Vessel

Damen has vast experience in building auxiliaries in both the naval and the commercial arena. Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding can match commercial and military standards and specifications, enabling it to offer military enhancements according to customer specifications. Vessels are equipped with the latest sensor and weapon suites and cutting-edge communication, automation and propulsion systems.

The Damen Naval Fleet Support series is available in a wide range of sizes and capabilities, especially designed to provide worldwide naval support, and is flexible in many secondary tasks. The Damen Naval Support series is a cost effective, flexible and highly capable addition to any fleet. Hull shape gives the vessel ability to reach the required speeds but with minimum use of power. Hybrid propulsion system provides for fuel efficiency and redundancy. Highly efficient medium speed diesel engines yield low fuel consumption and low maintenance costs. Compact arrangement provides for efficient crewing & day-to-day operations.

Some marine operations and installations are supported by a support vessel. The support vessel may provide fuel supply, radio communication, operational control and helicopter landing and fuelling facilities. Support vessels are used to large extent for transporting goods and cargo to, between and from offshore installations e.g. platforms, semi submersibles, FPSOs, military ships at sea, and military operations ashore. These support vessels are formed with a hull structure with a bow and a stern. The bridge and accommodation quarters are positioned in the forward section of the vessel. This has been the traditional design of support vessels for as long as support vessels have been used in connection with offshore installations.

When unloading/loading at the offshore installation support vessels are backed towards the platform, so that the stern section of the support vessel is closest to the platform. This traditional design construction gives several disadvantages, the bridge and accommodation quarters are located in a part of the vessel which experience large movements due to weather influence which makes the working environment quite uncomfortable. A traditional support vessel would have to be backed towards the offshore installation for unloading to the installation, and therefore there is a need for two bridge consoles facing opposite directions. The connection points for hoses in the stern of the support vessel are also exposed to weather conditions and swinging cargo.

Traditionally, leases of offshore support vessels involve a leassor creating a lease agreement with a leassee. In creating the lease relationship and lease agreement, the prospective leassee will generally require information regarding the offshore support vessel from the leassor. At times, leassors may lack the time or expertise to fully monitor the condition of their offshore support vessels with precision and regularity thereby creating an inability for them to thoroughly inform the leassees of information that they require.

Some leassors turn to management companies. However, these companies can be expensive, and there are no assurances that the rent will be paid to the leassor when it is due. In addition, these property management companies can lack the resources and expertise to provide the requisite information that a potential leassee requires before leasing an offshore support vessel

Damen’s focus on standardisation is undoubtedly a fundamental corporate value. In 1969, Jan Damen handed the reins over to his son Kommer Damen. The modular building concept was one of the first initiatives Kommer Damen introduced after listening carefully to client feedback. Four decades ago the standardisation concept was totally new in the shipbuilding industry and today it still differentiates Damen from its competitors.

In each niche market – from tugboats to luxury yachts – Damen has developed a standard range. However, although these vessels are based on a standard design, they can be equipped with a large range of options to meet specific customer requirements. These standard designs can be tailor-made according to customer wishes or Damen can of course, start from scratch to design a unique vessel. All of these options are no problem with Damen’s far-reaching capabilities.

Damen’s standardisation policy allows reducing delivery times substantially. All standard designs are worked out to the smallest detail. Therefore Damen can deliver fully finished vessels very quickly and efficiently. The vessels are produced at shipyards worldwide, close to customers. This results in an efficient delivery process at the best price-quality ratio.
