Operation Rising Lion / True Promise III - Iran vs Israel
Israel conducted a number of airstrikes and drone attackes as part of Operation Rising Lion aimed at decapitating Iran's military chain of command, but also eliminating prominent Iranian nuclear scientists. Confirmed senior military commanders and officials killed were: :
- Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami
- Major General Mohammad Baqeri, chief-of-staff of the Iranian armed forces
- Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, commander of the central headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces
- Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force
- Brigadier General Mehdi Rabani, deputy head of operations for the armed forces' general staff
- Brigadier General Gholamreza Mehrabi, the deputy director for intelligence for the general staff
- Brigadier General Davud Sheikhiyan, commander of the Air Defense Division of the IRGC Aerospace Force
- General Masud Shane'i, chief of staff to slain IRGC commander-in-chief Salami
- Nuclear scientist Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranchi
- Nuclear scientist Fereydoon Abbasi
- Nuclear scientist Dr. Abdolhamid Minoucher
- Nuclear scientist Dr. Ahmad Reza Zolfaghari
- Nuclear scientist Dr. Seyed Amir Hossein Faghihi
- Nuclear scientist Motallebzadeh
- Nuclear scientist Ali Karimi
- Nuclear scientist Mansour AsgariSaeed Borji
In subsequent strikes, the following Iranian military commanders were reported killed:
- Brigadier General Gholamreza Mehrabi, Deputy for Intelligence of the General Staff of the Armed Forces
- Brigadier General Mehdi Rabbani, Deputy for Operations of the General Staff of the Armed Forces
Media reports claimed that Israel had set up a base within Iran's borders from where it had deployed attack drones which had been used to kill specific individuals.
21 June Airstrikes
Israel reported killing three Qod's Force commanders:
- Saeed Izadi, the leader of the Palestine Corps in the Quds Force. He was reported to have financed and armed the Palestinian militant group Hamas to enable it to carry out the October 7, 2023 attacks on Israel. Izadi had been sanctioned by the United States and Britain over his ties to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. He was killed in a strike in an apartment in Iran's Qom Province.
- Behnam Shahriyari, responsible for all weapons transfers from Iran to its proxies across the Middle East. Shariyari was reportedly killed during an attack on his vehicle overnight in western Tehran.
- minpour Judaki, responsible for the IRGC's drone unit.
