Novorossia - Organization and Equipment
All line units of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps have an almost identical organizational and staffing structure, which corresponds to the standard staff of the RF Armed Forces. As a rule, a brigade or regiment includes three or four (in some units - with armored personnel carriers inclusive) motorized infantry or motorized rifle battalions, a tank battalion, the GADn, GSADN, ReADn, an anti-aircraft missile battalion (ZRDn) and other units.
The composition of the units may vary depending on the specific brigade. Most often, the differences are due to the peculiarities of the formation and purpose of the unit. So, instead of a flamethrower company, a brigade may have a flamethrower platoon. A tank company can have three or four companies. Very often there are rudiments of individual "legendary" units, bizarrely incorporated into the overall structure of a brigade or regiment.
Brigades, which include BTRO, have four battalions. An armored personnel carrier may include a separate tank company, such as the 1st armored personnel carrier as part of the 3rd Motorized Rifle Brigade. The 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade has only two SMEs, but the brigade includes two tank battalions instead of one, which is due to the use of this brigade as a corps reserve. Equipment in service with line brigades, as a rule, is similar to that of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This allows hiding supplies from the Russian Federation.
As a rule, these are BTR-70 and -80, BMP-1 (BMP-2 are available in scanty quantities), T-64 and T-72 tanks, 2S1 self-propelled guns, D-30, BM-21, MT-LB howitzers, SAM "Osa" and "Strela", MANPADS "Igla", etc. But there are exceptions. For example, the 9th regiment is armed with a battery of Nona-K guns, which are not in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Attention is drawn to the fact that the declared staffing of equipment in brigades is from 80 to 100%, although staffing almost never exceeds 50-60%. This means that the brigades of the 1st AK are, in fact, cadre and are designed for rapid replenishment with regular military personnel of the Russian Federation.
Individual units, in particular "Sparta", "Somalia", "Diesel", etc., have a specific organizational and staffing structure, but the number of these units is insignificant, staffing is at the level of 40%, therefore they are only capable of conducting limited tactical operations or are used for rotations on small sectors of the front or to reinforce weak battalions of line brigades.
