J-6IV night interceptor
The new J-6IV aircraft first flew in 1975. The J-6IV is a night interceptor designed by Shenyang Aircraft Factory in 1970. It flew for the first time in September 1970, and 7 aircraft were produced from 1971 to 1974. The J-6IV night interceptor had only two wing guns, thin air inlet lip, expanded air inlet, lengthened the fuselage, and installed domestic radar on the nose. The inlet lip is thinned to enlarge the cross-sectional area. It adopts enlarged J-6? wing and two wing root 30mm cannons. Others are the same as the F-6III. The cannon of the J-6 in the museum below seems to be different from the type IV of the army.
The main features of the J-6IV are: the radius of the air inlet lip is reduced, and the capture area is increased; the nose is extended, and the split radar is arranged in the mode of the J-6A; the fuselage cannon is removed, and only two wing root cannons are retained. ; The wing adopts the wing of the J-6III; there is no record about the engine, but it should be a turbojet-6A according to common sense.
From the perspective of improved features, the J-6IV is mainly aimed at night high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft. However, judging from the output and the appearance of the new J-6A, the J-6IV did not satisfy the Air Force.
