- Boeing JSF Concept Demonstrator Completes First Flight Boeing 18 Sep 2000 -- The Boeing Joint Strike Fighter X-32A concept demonstrator successfully recorded a major milestone when the airplane made its initial flight, flying from Palmdale and landing at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.
- CACI Awarded $27.2 Million Army Training Models Contract CACI 18 Sep 2000 -- CACI International Inc (NASDAQ:CACI) announced that it has won a $27.2 million contract to provide analytical and software development support for the U.S. Army Training Models (ATM) project. The delivery order/contract, awarded by Defense Supply Services, Washington, through CACI's General Services Administration (GSA) Information Technology Schedule, includes a one-year base period with four option years.

The contract is valued over $750 million.
- Pratt & Whitney JSF119 Engine Demonstrates Flawless Performance in First Flight Pratt & Whitney 18 Sep 2000 -- Pratt & Whitney's JSF119 engine met or exceeded all performance requirements powering the first flight of Boeing's F-35 Joint Strike Fighter X-32A concept demonstrator. The airplane took off at 10:55 a.m. Eastern Time from the Palmdale, Calif., test site and landed at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., as planned.
