- US Strikes Fallujah after Wave of Attacks Across Iraq VOA News 14 Oct 2004 --
U.S. forces have launched a massive new operation against insurgents in the Iraqi town of Fallujah after a wave of attacks Thursday left at least 15 people dead.
- Iraqi Soldiers Seize Weapons, Explosives AFPS 14 Oct 2004 -- The Iraqi Intervention Force's 1st Battalion arrested six people and seized two vehicles loaded with weapons and explosives Oct. 13 at a traffic control point here.
- MNF-I STRIKES SAFE HOUSE OF SENIOR ZARQAWI ASSOCIATE CENTCOM 14 Oct 2004 -- Multi-National Force-Iraq struck a key planning center for Zarqawi network meetings and gatherings, hitting a safe house belonging to a high-level Abu Musab al Zarqawi associate.
- IRAQI POLICE TAKE DOWN KIRKUK 'HOSTAGE HOUSE' CENTCOM 14 Oct 2004 -- Iraqi Police Service officers from the Meghdad Police Department in Kirkuk in Northern Iraq seized seven suspected kidnappers, Tuesday, from a believed hostage house after intercepting two kidnap victims fleeing from four armed men in the city.
- 10th Mountain Troops 'Fish' for Insurgents MNF-I/MNC-I 14 Oct 2004 -- Soldiers wading through a dark, humid swamp of water and bamboo sounds more like Vietnam than Iraq. But these were the conditions Soldiers from Task Force 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment faced as they submerged themselves up to their necks in water hunting down insurgents in a densely vegetated canal.
- MNF-I Strikes Foreign Terrorists MNF-I/MNC-I 14 Oct 2004 -- Coalition forces struck two Abu Musab al Zarqawi sites, a weapons transload and storage site in southern Fallujah, and a Zarqawi terrorist network safe house located in the Jolan district of Fallujah.
- IRAQ / WRAP VOA 14 Oct 2004 -- Two explosions, believed caused by hand-carried bombs, rocked the so-called Green Zone in the heart of Baghdad. The U.S. military says five people were killed and more than 20 others were wounded. The terror network led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has claimed responsibility. The attacks were part of a widespread spike in violence that followed an ultimatum from Iraq's interim prime minister, who demanded that Mr. al-Zarqawi be handed over to the authorities by the people who are believed to be sheltering him in the town of Fallujah.
- Iraq: Government Warns Al-Fallujah To Expel Foreign Insurgents RFE/RL 14 Oct 2004 -- Al-Fallujah has long made the headlines as the most restive place in central Iraq. - IRAQI POLICE TO GRADUATE 85 FROM ELECTION SECURITY TRAINING CENTCOM 14 Oct 2004 -- Eighty-five Iraqi Police Service officers will graduate from the Election Security Course in an International Zone training facility, Oct. 14, as part of the Iraqi government's ongoing effort to provide security for the country's upcoming elections.
- IRAQI POLICE TO GRADUATE 32 FROM SPECIALTY TRAINING COURSE CENTCOM 13 Oct 2004 -- Thirty two Iraqi Police Service officers will graduate from the Basic Criminal Investigation course in the International Zone, here on Oct. 14, as part of the Iraqi government's ongoing effort to augment the basic training of its police forces.
- IRAQI AIR FORCE TO RECEIVE EIGHT ADDITIONAL AIRCRAFT CENTCOM 13 Oct 2004 -- The Iraqi air force's 70th Squadron will take possession of the first two SAMA CH2000 light air surveillance aircraft, Oct. 29, in Basrah, as the first delivery of an eight - and possibly 16 aircraft - addition to the force.

- IRAQ: Pilot training for entrepreneurs IRIN 14 Oct 2004 -- The Basra Business Centre, working in partnership with the UK Department For International Development (DFID), has launched a pilot training programme to help local entrepreneurs and the unemployed learn various business skills.
- IRAQ: Sporadic fighting in Sadr City prevents repair work IRIN 14 Oct 2004 -- Sporadic fighting in Sadr City, a suburb of the capital Baghdad, has dashed residents' hopes that the interim Iraqi government and aid agencies would come in to repair sewers, collect rubbish and turn on electricity for at least a few more hours every day.
Foreign Reactions
- IRAQ/DONORS VOA 14 Oct 2004 -- Fifty-seven nations and international organizations have concluded a two-day meeting in Japan devoted to raising funds for rebuilding Iraq. The conference resulted in no significant new pledges, but gave five of Iraq's cabinet ministers a chance to explain their policies and for donors to review progress.
