IRAQI POLICE TO GRADUATE 85 FROM ELECTION SECURITY TRAINING
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Eighty-five Iraqi Police Service officers will graduate from the Election Security Course in an International Zone training facility, Oct. 14, as part of the Iraqi government's ongoing effort to provide security for the country's upcoming elections.
The six-day course is designed to augment officer skills with specialty training in effective election security issues. Instruction provides basic knowledge, skills, and conceptional understanding to effectively and efficiently maintain order and assure a peaceful election.
Using classroom lectures, discussions, and practical exercises, the course covers roles of the election security force, policing in a democracy, crowd control and officer safety, use of force, and conflict intervention topics.
The course is augmented by Iraqi's addressing local subject matter - including local election laws, criminal laws and constitutional laws relevant to the upcoming elections.
Attendance included Iraqi Police Service officers from Baghdad, Babylon, Najaf, Nassivia, Missan, Theegar, Basra, Mosul, Erbil, Dahok, Salah Al-Dun, Kirkuk, Diala and Wassit.
