MNF-I STRIKES SAFE HOUSE OF SENIOR ZARQAWI ASSOCIATE
FALLUJAH, Iraq - Multi-National Force-Iraq struck a key planning center for Zarqawi network meetings and gatherings, hitting a safe house belonging to a high-level Abu Musab al Zarqawi associate.
The strike occurred at 2:22 p.m. local time today in an area of north central Fallujah.
Secondary explosions were reported.
The strike was the third today on the Zarqawi network as the Iraq government, its security forces, and Multi-National Forces continue operations against foreign terrorists and their supporters.
Earlier today, Multi-National Forces struck a weapons transload and storage site in southern Fallujah, and a Zarqawi terrorist network safe house located in the Jolan district of Fallujah.
The safe house was carefully selected based on detailed intelligence confirming the use of this location to store weapons, train and conduct meetings by Zarqawi terrorists.
This strike, like others in the past, are carefully planned and carried out to eliminate Zarqawi's ability to harm innocent people. A top priority is to avoid harming civilians and causing damage. However, by operating and hiding among civilians, the terrorists endanger innocent civilians and are directly responsible for any harm to the women and children they hide behind.
The Iraqi government and multi-national force have made great strides in dismantling the Zarqawi terrorist network and establishing a safer, more stable Iraq in preparation for Iraq's January elections.
