The Rosomak is an 8x8 multi-purpose armored vehicle manufactured under the license from Finland's Patria. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced 01 April 2023 that 100 Rosomak armored personnel carriers will be purchased for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The order will be financed through funds that Poland has received from the European Union and US funds that Ukraine has received, he said, without providing details or the overall cost of the contract. The United States and its allies have provided Ukraine with a host of funding and weapons after Russia invaded its pro-Western ex-Soviet neighbor in February 2022.
The corresponding order will be submitted to the defense industry of Poland. According to him, the European Union and the United States will jointly pay for the purchase of these armored vehicles for Ukraine. “The Ukrainian army will purchase 100 Rosomak APCs from us, which are produced in Siemianowice Slaskie. The factory specializes in the production of armored vehicles and is part of the Polish state company Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ).

President Zelenskyi and Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signed a letter of intent to cooperate on the supply of defense equipment in Warsaw on April 5. As reported by the press service of the Ukrainian president, the purpose of this is to ensure constant support and strengthening of the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces through the acquisition by Ukraine of Polish defense equipment, in particular Rosomak armored personnel carriers, Rak self-propelled mortars and missiles for portable anti-aircraft missile complexes "Perun".

Rosomak 8×8 multi-role military vehicle is a licensed variant of the Finnish Patria AMV wheeled armored vehicle, which is produced in Poland in both the BMP and APC versions, according to the contract dated December 2002. It was used in the war in Afghanistan. In total, 670 such armored personnel carriers have been produced so far. The armored personnel carrier is controlled by a crew of three people, while the landing compartment in the rear part of the vehicle is designed for eight soldiers. Paratroopers exit the armored personnel carrier through the aft door or upper hatches. Armor of the armored personnel carrier protects against 14.5 mm caliber bullets from the front and 7.62 caliber bullets from the sides. The vehicle develops a speed of 100 km/h and can overcome water obstacles at a speed of up to 10 km/h.
KTO Rosomak is a Polish wheeled armored personnel carrier (KTO) produced under the license of the Finnish Patria company since 2003 at the plant in Siemianowice Slaskie. The first vehicles entered service in 2005. The basic version of the vehicle is armed with a 30mm ATK Mk44 cannon and a 7.62mm UKM2000C machine gun in the Hitfist 30 turret. The KTO Rosomak is built in an 8x8 all-wheel drive system. It is powered by a Scania D1 12 turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 490HP, which allows the Rosomak, weighing about 22 tons, to accelerate to 100 km / h (on the road). The crew consists of 3 people, and the landing force is up to 8 soldiers.
Vehicles serving in Afghanistan were very often landed down to 6 soldiers. KTO Rosomak vehicles are used in the 17th Mechanized Brigade from Miedzyrzecz and the 12th Mechanized Brigade from Szczecin. On the basis of the Rosomak APC, in 2012 a prototype of the Rak self-propelled mortar was created, which since 2017 has been supplying units of the Polish army. The basic version of the vehicle is also undergoing modernization tests, mainly by: installing the remotely controlled ZSSW-30 turret, adding the Spike LR ATGM or installing new internal communication systems.
The Polish Armed Forces (in stock, under repair or on order) have approx. 670 copies of this vehicle. On the basis of the Rosomak armored personnel carrier, several variants of various purposes have been developed, which are in service with the Polish army. This type of armored personnel carrier participated in the war in Afghanistan. It is in service in Poland and the UAE.
