T-90
The T-90 is a medium tank, significantly smaller than Western heavy tanks. Reducing the frontal projection of the tank reduces the probability of hitting the tank. Although this was particularly true in the 1960s and 1970, with the massive spread abroad laser range finders, thermal imaging sights and automated SLA, the front projection role in the aspect of reducing the likelihood of getting hit declined.
with the use of the T-72M during the Iran-Iraq war, Soviet tanks proved superior to foreign M60A3 tanks and "Chieftain Mk 5", is produced in the same period. Strength of opponents in aviation, intelligence and control were comparable. The use of T-72M and T-72M1 during "Operation Desert Storm", manifested a radical backlog of Iraq from the multinational forces (USA) in reconnaissance and command and control, along with a complete air superiority of the coalition forces. Fighting in the course of the liquidation of illegal armed formations in Chechnya, Russian tanks T-72B, T-80BV suffered great losses as a result of inadequate crew training.
