Project 50 "Ermine" / Riga - Electronics

The fire control system of the universal 100 mm artillery consisted of:

  1. From the artillery fire control device (PUAO) "Sphere-50", which included: firing machine (counting and decisive device), which, based on incoming data from the stabilized sighting post SVP-42-50 combined with the antenna of the tracking anchor "Anchor", produced vertical and horizontal aiming angles of universal installations of 100-mm caliber.
  2. SSSP-50 remote control system.
  3. “Component” gyrostabilization system, which provided stabilization of 100-mm gun mounts during pitching.
  4. The target was detected by an optical range finder (surface only) or the Guys-1M target design radar (air, surface and coastal).
  5. Then the target was taken to support the Anchor firing radar (measuring range with the help of the radar, and its target angle with an optical sight).
  6. The Anchor tracking radar of the decimeter wave range made it possible to determine the range and accompany air, surface and coastal targets for controlling the firing of universal artillery of 100 mm caliber. The radar automatically escorted air targets at ranges up to 30 km, and surface targets up to 33 km.

The ships were equipped with Guys-1M target radar, Lin navigation radar, Fakel state identification equipment, GAS Pegasus-2, ARP-50 radio direction finder, Planet-50 bi-directional detector, and MDS smoke bombs.

Guys-1M target designation radar was designed to detect surface and air targets and to issue target designation to universal and anti-aircraft caliber artillery control systems for small ships. The station worked in the meter wavelength range with an output power of 80 kW and provided circular and sector search, as well as tracking the target with determining the distance, its heading angle and bearing. Two antennas of the “wave channel” type were located on the mast, radiation and reception could be performed both on both antennas operating in phase or on one. The main units of the radar weighing 174 kg were located on the deck of the ship. The detection range of a cruiser-type target by the station was up to 11 km, the destroyer - up to 8 km, the minesweeper - up to 6.5 km, and the azimuth error - 1.5 °, range - 92.5 meters.

The Lin navigation radar operated in the decimeter wavelength range, and also had three operating modes — all-round visibility for navigational purposes, sector search and tracking of surface and low-flying air targets. A parabolic antenna was placed on the mast.

The state recognition system is represented by two PACs - the interrogator and the respondent Fakel. RAS "Fakel" allows identification of surface and air targets to determine their affiliation with their armed forces. Two antennas are located on the mast.

GAS "Pegasus-2" with a telescope antenna, which worked in the modes of echo - and noise direction finding. The GAS was capable of detecting a submarine traveling at a periscope depth at a distance of 2.6 km, and anchor mines at a distance of 1.3 km, with the ASR speed of up to 20 knots.

The ARP-50 radio direction finder was designed to determine the location by radio beacons in the dark and with poor visibility. The antenna (frame) of the direction finder was located on the mast. The direction finder worked in the range of long and medium waves.

BIUS "Tablet-50" is a combat information and control system designed to coordinate the work of shipborne lighting equipment, display it on tablets, process information, and determine the elements of target movement. At the same time, data were simultaneously processed for 4-5 surface and 7-9 air targets.

Sea smoke bomb MDSh with a smoke generator from a solid smoke mixture based on ammonia and anthracene. With a length of 487 mm and a mass of 40-45 kg, its operation time is eight minutes, and the smoke screen created reaches 350 meters in length and 17 meters in height.
