1st Tactical Operations Wing

In February 2001, the Philippine Air Force activated the 1st Tactical Operations Wing at Clark Air Base. At the same time the 600th Air Base Wing at Clark was inactivated. The 1st Tactical Operations Wing assumed responsibility for the upkeep of the facility, as well as the Crow Valley gunnery and bombing range. As a result, in addition to its combat units the 1st Tactical Operation Wing also had an air base group, hospital, and dental dispensary, along with a detached air base squadron at Crow Valley.

The primary mission of the 1st Tactical Operations Wing was to conduct tactical air operations in support of other PAF and Armed Forces of the Philippines units throughout Luzon. The specific functions were to include operations such as close air support, battlefield interdiction, troop movement, forward air control, combat air patrols, search and rescue, surveillance and reconnaissance, medical evacuation, and support for civic actions.

In 2007 the 1st Tactical Operations Wing was inactivated as part of the reactivation of the 1st Air Division and other associated reorganizations within the Philippine Air Force.
