Composite Air Support Force 1 (CASF 1)

The Headquarters of Tactical Operations Group 1 (TOG 1) is situated 4,251 feet above Mean Sea Level at Baguio Airport, Loakan, Baguio City. The mission of TOG 1 is to plan, control and coordinate the employment of air power in its area of responsibility. As one of the Philippine Air Force's units tasked to support the Armed Forces of the Philippines' Internal Security Operations, TOG 1 has responsbility over all of Region 1, composed of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte provinces and the Cordillera Administrative Region sub-provinces of Benguet, Abra, and Mountain Province. Its specific functions include: determining tactical air requirements in the AOR; exercising operational control/supervision over all Air Force Units deployed in the AOR; conducting tactical air operations within the AOR; performing forward air control missions; performing airfield operations and service support functions; and performing Civil Military Operations (CMO) within the AOR.

TOG 1 traces its lineage back to Composite Air Support Force 1 (CASF 1), which was activated on 16 November 1985. CASF 1 was placed under the operational control of the 1st Air Division, Philippine Air Force and established its first Headquarters in Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet. Barely 2 years after its activation, CASF 1 was inactivated and renamed CASF Northern Luzon Command (CASF NOLCOM), whereupon it was relocated in Echague, Isabela. This move occured at the height of the Armed Forces of the Philippines operation against insurgents in the Kalinga-Apayao province during the late 1980's. On 10 November 1988, CASF 1 was reactivated and relocated to Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, while CASF NOLCOM was renamed CASF 2.

After almost 3 years, CASF 1 was relocated to Wallace Air Station, Poro Point, San Fernando City, La Union on 1 October 1991. On 18 September 1998, CASF 1 was again moved to Baguio Airport, Loakan, Baguio City. The unit was subsequently redesignated as Composite Tactical Group 1 (CTG 1) on 15 October 1998.

On 1 February 2001, CTG 1 was redesignated as Tactical Operations Group 1 (TOG 1) with the establishment of the 1st Tactical Operations Wing at Clark Air Base, Angeles City, Pampanga. When the 1st Air Division was reactivated the 1st TOW was subsequently decactivated on 1 August 2007 pursuant to General Orders Number 306 dated 31 August 2007. As a result TOG 1 was placed under the command and control of 1st Air Division.
