On 2 August 1945 the Potsdam Conference ended deliberations. Signed by the representatives of the great powers transferred under the authority of the final document of the Polish former German territories situated to the East of a line running from the Baltic Sea, directly West of Poland, and thence along the Oder river to the confluence of its with Nisou Luzycka and along that river to the border of the Czechoslovak. In the Polish State, which re-claimed its borders, many problems require immediate solutions. From August 1945 the Polish Republic had a line of sea coast length 581 km compared to the State from 1939 of about 441 km.
Due to the length of the border, have been created around the coast of specific delegations of the Navy. For this purpose, the Chief Commander of the Polish Army ordered (No 50 of 22.03.1946), in which he instructed Staff to the principal form of 28.04.1946, West of Polish Navy [MW] Area Marine based in Swinoujscie, Poland.
The name of the West area of Primorsky Krai not surviving long and Decree Stavka WP (No 25 of 03.04.1946) changed it to the Seaside area of Szczecin. Related to this was the creation of two separate areas with the new concept of the seaside: haff and the kolobrzeskiego, in place of the one named Western. The difficulty of maintaining, as far as unified and compact flotilla in Swinoujscie, Poland existed from the beginning of its creation. In July 1949, Rear Admiral w. STEYER-already as the Commander of the Navy, occurred with the concept of concentrating the main forces in boats in Gdynia, as compiling, supply and renovation of the fleet. The lack of ships and the development of new types of weapons, as well as the changes in international situation connected with reduction of the armed forces high command forced to find more real Polish Navy [MW] organisational units.
Thus was formed the concept of bases and communications by the coastal route artillery guards artillery batteries and mobile. December 21, 1950 new unit was given the name of the Navy Base in Swinoujscie, Poland and No 2454, catering to the operational development force and means of action in its area of responsibility. Thecomposition are newly formed sub-units and branches: Desantowych, Division of communications and the Flotilla Of Observation, 3 battalion, the Marines, 17. Fixed Artillery battery, 12. Self-contained Chemical Defence Platoon, heavy motor boat "Perch", 2 motor vessels and 2 racers S-1 and S-2.
With the invention of Polish Navy [MW] began a period of rapid development of watercraft. Analyzing the development of war fleets headquarters HR in other States and sea operation of US troops in Korea in 1950, decided to speed up the development of the Marines and create a team for its needs of amphibious. On 7 August 1951 is an Assault Flotilla [Desantowych] (renamed in 1956 at Flotylle Amphibious) in which the warehouse initially was 21 assault barges, 11 medium-sized assault barges, and 12 assault boats, with a total displacement of 3700 tonnes.
In this way, the stronger the Force Commander of the base and partially funded the sea underlying tasks arising from the Stavka WP guidelines require the creation of two flotilla; stronger for the Home Base for the Naval Base in Gdynia and weaker in Swinoujscie, Poland.
In the changing international situation, in the mid-1960s in the Navy followed by further organisational changes. Returned to the idea of the (pre-1950) forming the headquarters for two defence flotilla in Swinoujscie, Poland: coast and Hel. Units stationed in these cities had already not only defend military bases and territorial waters, but also each coast. In pursuing these objectives, in May 1965 after the dissolution of the MW in Swinoujscie, Poland and its subsidiary bodies is 8 Coast Defence Flotilla. In the same year is organized, descended from the fleet of Desantowych-2. Amphibious Brigade and 12 Squadron Base Tralowców. Reproduced also Swinoujska Command Port of martial law along with Squadrons of auxiliary watercraft and transferred from the Military Orchestra, Ustka.
In the next period, the force fleet increased by a further branches and sub-units of the communications, observation, artillery of the riparian and przeciwchemiczne. In 1977, 8. FOW podporzadkowano 8. Kolobrzeg Sapper Battalion and 1 red from scratch. Sapper Battalion, which podporzadkowano 2. Brygadzie Amphibious.
In June 1991 the squadron was created from the place of the stationing of boats in kolobrzeg, ZOP. On the basis of a decision of the Minister of national defence, of 28 June 1994 on giving first patron and the establishment of annual holidays 8 FOW adopted the name contributors to the Polish fleet, Vice-Admiral Kazimierza Porebskiego and holidays unit on 29 April. 8 Flotilla was awarded the order of the banner of FOW II Class in 1978, won the Medal for achievements in military service and other State and earned the resortowymi for the high State of readiness and achievement in the training and education of soldiers.
In 1998 and 1999 in recognition of merit highlighted flotilla was an honorary Sign of the armed forces of Poland. Multilateral cooperation with society of West Coast FOW, with administrative authorities and local coastal provinces facilitates the dissemination of knowledge of the sea and people associated with him. Close contacts of the establishments work especially from Slaska DOKP, the patron cities of ships for transportation and minefields (Poznan, Gniezno, Torun, Krakow, Lublin) and patron schools, over which the entity exercising patronage-elements for the integration of both environments.
In the 8th FOW now consists of: two squadrons of combat ships performing tasks for transportation and minefield, defence and combating submarines of the opponent. In addition, three units of the waterside are pursuing the job security of operations combat flotilla. Tasks deal with 8. Kolobrzeg Sapper Battalion. Defending the air Fleet provides 8 anti-aircraft defence squadron, and chemical company chemical 8 bsap. Units of stationed in forces to Dziwnów Security forces carried out marine logistic is based on the command Port of martial law in Swinoujscie, Poland having in its composition of auxiliary craft diverse destination and point of Basing in kolobrzeg.
Currently swinoujska is experienced and full of ambition team flotilla, with many perfectly prepared professionally and cast its officers, non-commissioned officers, seamen and workers, aimed at the military. Every day they give testimony of its wzorowej service and work. As a result of the rationalisation of the process command, and changes in the structures of the Tralowców passed in the subjugation of 13 Squadron, 3 Flotilla Ships and 30 Chemical Company was the subject under 8 Battalion Sapper in Dziwnowie.
