EAST TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGY PARK
KEY FACILITIES
The DOE Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Incinerator, which is located on the eastern part of the site, was constructed in 1989. The TSCA Incinerator has treated solid and liquid wastes, primarily contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), since 1991, and is the only facility in the U.S. permitted to burn radioactive and hazardous wastes. It is a high efficiency incinerator, with an efficiency of 99.9999 percent for PCB destruction.
