NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC) Threat Warning/Attack Assessment (U)
Overview (U):
(U) Ground based warning sensors and attack assessment systems provide the essential complement to DoD's space based surveillance and warning sensors. The integration of ground and space based tactical warning and attack assessment (TW/AA) sensors data occurs in the NORAD Cheyenne Mountain Complex (NCMC). DoD investments are required to operate, maintain and prevent the obsolescence of these systems. Current programs include the completion of phased evolutionary upgrades and operator training for the NCMC TW/AA "system of systems" and communications interfaces and continued O&M. These systems provide essential missile and air warning, space surveillance, and control and communications capabilities both survivable and otherwise, not only at Cheyenne Mountain but at a host of sensors, alternate correlation and command centers, and forward users.

Description (U):
(U) The program funds the replacement systems for the Cheyenne Mountain Complex (CMC), currently in its final year of acquisition. The system provides the command, control, communications and computers (C4) support for the Integrated TW/AA System. It upgrades and replaces the current operational systems incrementally without loss of attack warning capability during the phased transition. The CMC supports the Commander-in-Chief of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Space Command (CINC NORAD/USCINCSPACE) in providing the National Command Authorities (NCA), U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and other forward users with early warning and assessment of missile, air and space attack on North America or U.S. allies. Efforts associated with the operational enhancement and O&M of the systems will continue.
User Impact (U):
(U) The NCMC supports the Commander-in-Chief of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Space Command (CINCNORAD/USCINCSPACE) in providing the National Command Authorities (NCA), U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and other forward users with early warning and assessment of missile, air and space attack on North America or U.S. allies.
