Description (U):
(U) The Cheyenne Mountain Complex (CMU) program provides for the integrated acquisition, development, installation, and testing of the SCIS, CSSR, SPADOC-4, CCPDS-R, Granite Sentry, and A/MWC systems. The CMU program provides changes for North American defense and global space vigilance; increases the functionality of missile, space, and air warning; enables National Command Authorities to quickly formulate viable threat responses; and supports 15 major command, control, communications, computer, and intelligence (C4I) systems and associated training systems worth over $8.5 Billion at 27 sites on five continents. CMU is scheduled to be completed by 1999.
User Impact (U):
(U) The CMU program will upgrade and replace existing Cheyenne Mountain Complex (CMC) systems, which support the Commander-in-Chief of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Space Command (CINCNORAD/USCINCSPACE) in providing the National Command Authorities (NCA), U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and other forward users with early warning and assessment of missile, air and space attack on North America or U.S. allies.
