Communications Systems Segment Replacement (CSSR) (U)

Overview (U):

(U) The Communications System Segment Replacement (CSSR) processes and routes most of the internal and external automated communications at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. It is located at Cheyenne Mountain Air Station, Colorado, and the Alternate Missile Warning Center at Offutt AFB, Nebraska.

Description (U):

(U) The Communication Segment System Replacement (CSSR) validates and routes messages to the Command Center Processing Display System Replacement (CCPDS-R), much of the SPADOC traffic, the Granite Sentry traffic and a small portion of the Intelligence System traffic. CSSR includes a Technical Control component at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, and an automated tracking and monitoring component at both CMC and the AMWC. CSSR receives and sends its missile warning traffic from and to SCIS and other mission traffic from a multitude of other communications processors, direct circuits and networks.

User Impact (U):

(U) CSSR, as a part of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex (CMC), supports the Commander-in-Chief of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Space Command (CINCNORAD/USCINCSPACE) in providing the National Command Authorities (NCA), U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and other forward users with early warning and assessment of missile, air and space attack on North America or U.S. allies.
