Paladin combat robot [boevogo-robota]
The Paladin combat robot [boevogo-robota] complex on the BMP-3 chassis was presented for the first time by the VNII Signal (included in the High-Precision Complexes Holding of Rostec) at the Army-2019 forum as part of a closed static display. This is stated in a press release distributed on 24 June 2019 by the state corporation. Holding “High-Precision Systems” of Rostec State Corporation for the first time will present the latest Paladin robotic complex at the International Military Technical Forum Army-2019. noted in the message.
The robotic complex will be equipped with two cannons of 100 mm and 30 mm caliber and a 7.62 mm machine gun. “Paladin” is capable of both acting offline (in this case, he calculates the route and gets to the point specified by the operator himself), and remotely controlled. Industrial Director of Rostec Sergey Abramov noted that the complex is capable of solving combat missions, including "fire support of subunits, holding bridgeheads, breaking through the line of defense of the enemy and transporting personnel."
The Army 2019 Forum was held from June 25 to June 30 at the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center in the Moscow Region, and exhibitions will be held in other regions of Russia. According to preliminary estimates, more than 1.5 thousand enterprises and organizations that will represent more than 27 thousand samples of products and technologies will take part in the forum on the territory of the Russian Federation.
In 2015, the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute “Signal” presented the “Udar” combat robotic complex on the BMP-3 platform. The strike was armed with a combat module with a 30mm cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun and Kornet anti-tank guided missiles. A similar module is installed on promising infantry fighting vehicles on the Boomerang and Kurganets platforms.
“Paladin” is a development of another, earlier, development of the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute “Signal”, the Udar ["Strike"] BRK (combat robotic complex). For it, the BMP-3 was also used as a platform. Weapons "strike", according to experts, will be transferred to the "Paladin". This is a 30 mm cannon and a 7.62 mm machine gun. Earlier it was suggested that the basic caliber of a combat robot can be increased to 57 mm. However, no official confirmation of this matter yet.
Experts note that the Paladin BRK is capable of delivering troops to the site of combat operations, carrying out its fire cover, and also act as armored vehicles to break through the enemy's defense lines. Such a complex seems to be effective in maintaining KTO in the conditions of development - with the goal of preserving the life of the security forces of counter-terrorism units. That is why the "Paladin" as a result may cause interest not only among the Ministry of Defense, but also among other power structures. An additional reason is quite an effective combination of weapons with the known TTX of the platform itself.
