Izdeliye 810 / R-37M / RVV-BD

In the field of long-range weapons for the PAK FA, "Vympel" is working on the modernization of the R-37 missile. On the basis of "Product 610M" a new "product 810" was being developed. This rocket should be placed in the internal compartments of the PAK FA. The tests were scheduled for 2014-2015.

Carried by the Su-57 / T-50 / PAK FA. it is planned to use the missile in the aircraft armament complex with suspension on rails for heavy cargo. It is planned to place the rocket in the internal compartments of the carrier aircraft on a catapult launcher.

According to the available information, the rocket is made without wings with a load-bearing body and aerodynamic rudders. Control system consists of inertial control system on the cruise stage and active radar seeker (probably) at the final stage of the trajectory. The control system uses the Orlan product subsystem (probably either a radio altimeter or the GOS itself). In September 2010 OJSC UPKB Detal, within the framework of the ROC, has developed and successfully defended a draft design of the Orlan product for product 810. The draft design of the Orlan product was made according to the TK of OAO GosMKB Vympel named after I.I. Toropov ”on a competitive basis. Another participant in the competition was the organization OJSC "NII" Delta ", Moscow, which is a traditional developer and manufacturer of products on this topic.

Engine yses solid propellant rocket with a firing duration of 360 secconds. The Performance characteristics of the missile are said to call for a range of 400-450 km and a height of defeat up to 40,000 m.

The R-37M RVV-BD is a direct development of the K-37 rocket with a semi-active RGS, according to the "Russian Reporter", the head Corporations. This rocket, in turn, was first demonstrated at the end of the Soviet Union. It was intended for the modernized MiG-31M aircraft, on which, since 1989, it underwent flight design tests. It is known that in 1994 a missile launch range of more than 300 km was obtained. But, unfortunately, its development was suspended for fifteen years due to the cessation of funding, until around 2010.

Reports about the work carried out by JSC GosMKB Vympel on the long-range missile RVV-BD appeared in the company's annual reports since 2007. For the first time, RVV-BD was promised to be demonstrated in accordance with the Order of the President of the Russian Federation of August 21, 2007 No. 465-rp at MAKS-2007. It didn't work out because an export license had not yet been issued. There was no such rocket at MAKS-2009 either. At a press conference during MAKS-2009, the head of the Corporation, B. Obnosov, confirmed that in addition to work on RVV-MD and RVV-SD, work is also underway on a long-range missile. On the website of JSC "UAC" in 2009 and the website of the Sukhoi company published information that the RVV-BD rocket is part of the armament of the export version of the Su-35 aircraft and would be offered to potential customers.

Vympel's 2010 annual report stated that “a new RVV-BD air-to-air guided missile was under development at the final stage of R&D”. From the same report, it was reported that an export license for the RVV-BD product had finally been issued (No. 185ss / 10 / NEP of 11.09.2010). On the eve of MAKS-2011 in an interview with the VPK newspaper, Obnosov said: “Work on the long-range missile is on schedule, and I hope we will complete the tests by the end of the year. This is a serious product, which has no competitors either in the country or in the world." At a press conference during MAKS-2011, the head of the corporation confirmed what had been said earlier: "This year we will complete the state tests. It (the rocket) flies with might and main and knocks everything down, it has already been put into series."

To avoid speculation, it must be said that the transverse dimensions of the missile do not provide for its internal suspension in the T-50 armament compartment. “When we talk about a 5th generation aircraft, we first of all consider internal weapons,” Obnosov noted during MAKS-2011. Further, answering the question about which of the UASP samples presented in the exposition are intended for this purpose, the head of the Corporation did not name among other RVV-BD missiles. Indeed, in the prospectus for the rocket, only external aircraft ejection devices AKU-410-1 or AKU-620 appear as suspension and launch devices. Judging by the layout shown at MAKS-2011, only the upper stabilizers (rudders) are folded for conformal placement. But the wing remained non-folding. It should be assumed that the missile will become part of the armament of the modernized MiG-31BM.

According to the advertising materials, the launch of the missile into the target zone is carried out under the control of an inertial guidance system with corrections along the radio correction line, followed by active radar homing at the final section of the trajectory. The K-37 was supposed to use the radar active-semi-active GOS 9B-1388 (MFBU-610) developed by the Agat Research Institute.

According to advertising materials, RVV-BD can ensure the defeat of various air targets at a great distance (fighters, attack aircraft, bombers, VTA aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles) at any time of the day, at all angles, in conditions of electronic warfare, against the background of the earth and water surface, including with multichannel shelling according to the principle "fire and forget."

Due to the high aerodynamic characteristics of the rocket and the use of a high-energy dual-mode solid-propellant rocket engine (solid propellant rocket engine), the missile launch range can apparently be close to 300 km, as in the "Soviet analog". But, the head of the corporation at a press conference held at MAKS-2011, said that in the export version, the missile's range will be up to 200 km. Judging by the prospectus, this is the maximum range in the PPP "for some types of targets." Earlier this figure was not announced. “I can only say that it has a very long range. At the moment, not a single aircraft missile of this class has such a range,” Obnosov reported last year. The range in the ZPS is not named. All advertising materials indicate the missile's ability to hit targets with an overload of 8 g at altitudes from 15 m to 25 km.

The rocket has a launch weight of 510 kg, which is slightly less than the previously indicated for the K-37 (600 kg). The combat power of the missile has increased significantly. The mass of its high-explosive fragmentation warhead is 60 kg. Explosive device of non-contact (radar active) and contact (target sensors) action.

With regard to operational parameters, the designated service life of the product is 8 years. The assigned resource for an unlimited number of take-offs / landings from a runway with a concrete surface (20 take-offs / landings from unpaved and metal runways) is 50 flight hours. The time of continuous operation of the equipment in flight under the carrier aircraft is 3 hours. During operation, the serviceability of the onboard missile equipment is checked on the Oka-E aircraft weapons preparation complex or on the Oka-620 control equipment. The missile will be produced in the following versions, in addition to the combat one: the RVV-BD-UD training rocket (for ground training of technical personnel in the rules for preparing RVV-BD missiles for use, storage, operation and transportation).

A competition was held on a long-range missile. In addition to OJSC "GosMKB" Vympel "(KTRV), OJSC" OKB "Novator" with the KS-172 (172S-1, AAM-L) rocket took part in it. Mockups of this rocket were demonstrated at MAKS-2005 and MAKS-2007. "It was a very serious competition. I have very great respect for the products of Novator," Obnosov said. It seems that there are two applicants, and not one, as was often the case. However, whether everything went smoothly with this competition and whether it was at all, is a bit uncelear. The claim of JSC "OKB" Novator "to the competition committee of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation" on the recognition of illegal the decision of the competition committee to refuse admission to participation in the closed competition "Creation of a long-range air-to-air missile" ("Dated 09/03/2009). It is immediately clear that Novator was denied consideration of the case due to non-payment of a state fee. By the end of 2010, a decision was received to satisfy the claim in full. In addition, the appeal was rejected, leaving the decision court without change, complaint without satisfaction. One way or another, now the finalist of the competition is known at MAKS-2011 on this topic "Novator".
