Il-14 CRATE - Military Variants

The plane Il-14-30D (desant = landing) was established in 1955 based on passenger aircraft IL-14P and designed for transporting 30 paratroopers, as well as small general cargo weighing up to 3000 kg. The plane Il-14 was built in series. IL-14-30D different from its civilian ancestor Il-14P that its landing cabin (1,94 x2, 67h9, 89 m) had been converted from passenger and extended by lifting the front luggage compartment and the buffet. The heat insulation of landing cab and toilet was substituted lightened, in the cab new heating system was established and illumination was changed. The loading hatch of front luggage compartment was absent. Panels and beams of the sex of landing cab were intensified, along the boards of cab established 30 hinged seats.

Cargo aircraft Il-14[Gr] was created in 1956. on the base of passenger aircraft Il-14[M], but with the fuselage Il-14[P]. It was intended for the use in the following basic versions: cargo - for the transport of different loads with an overall mass of up to 2700 kgf; truck - for the transport and the dropping by the parachutes of different landing loads or 21 paratroopers; sanitary - for the transport of 18 stretcher patients or injured with the accompanying medical worker; tow - for towing of glider with the flight mass to 7000 kg. on the aircraft Il-14 was installed truck equipment for all four versions.

The cargo compartment of aircraft Il-14[T] is elongated in comparison with the landing cab Il-30[D] due to the rear luggage compartment and the displacement of toilet to the rear partition. In contrast to Il-12[D] cargo door is increased along the width (2,71[kh]1,6 m), and the door opened inside the cab for the landing force members was made in the front fold. Entrance door on the starboard is moved somewhat forward, its sizes are increased, door is executed by that opening inside the cab. The increased along the width cargo door provided the possibility of load into the aircraft of a motor vehicle of the type GAZ-69 and another technology. For positioning the landing force members on the boards of cab folding seat is established by 21.

In contrast to Il-12[D] for the transport and the dropping by the parachutes of the landed loads in the cargo compartment was established the conveyor, which consisted of cargo escalator, leading-out conveyer and electromechanical drive. The dropping of the landed loads was ensured through the entrance door. Control of conveyor - from the cockpit, navigator's compartment or from the shield at the cargo door. Outside the aircraft Il-14 under the center section were established two stores racks for the external suspension of the large-dimension landed loads. On the left side in the work site of navigator, just as on Il-12[D], instead of the window was established the transparent blister of hemispherical form with the sight for the dropping of the landed loads. In the forward fuselage section under the sex the aerial camera for the control of the dropping of loads was established, in [KHCHF] - soaked for towing of glider, controlled from the cockpit.

Loading and unloading of aircraft Il-14 could be produced with the aid of ground loading equipment or by transportable on the aircraft onboard loading adaptations, which consisted of the cargo area, which was being established in the threshold of cargo door, collapsible loading ladder, winch and rotary loading crane with the winch. With the aid of the slewing crane, which was being established in the cab at the leading edge of cargo door, the loads with a mass of up to 300 kgf could load into the cab directly from the body of motor vehicle or from the earth.

Aircraft Il-14[T], re-equipped into the version for Aeroflot (without landing and other special equipment), widely adapted with the transportation of different national-economic loads, and also in the polar aviation on guarantee of different scientific expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctica.
