BMO-1 / LMS-1 Firebug
Domestic armed forces are armed with a completely unique weapon - rocket infantry flame throwers, which perfectly showed itself in many armed conflicts and wars. It is therefore not surprising that for units to defeat the enemy, it was decided to develop a special technique. The result is a combat vehicle flamethrower LMC-1, created on the basis of the BMP-2. The troop compartment BMP-2 was converted to accommodate 22 single-jet flamethrowers, the number of troops at the same time decreased to 4 people.
The Vehicle BMO-1 [LMC-1] established on the basis of infantry fighting vehicle BMP-2. The main objective of the modernization is to eliminate the drawbacks of machines of this class, as well as increasing their combat efficiency.
The Tula state unitary enterprise "instrument-making design Bureau" decided to improve the BMP and address the shortcomings inherent in the structures of these fighting machines. The end result of the labor of Tula designers enhanced the combat effectiveness of the machines themselves and enhanced infantry landing them in all kinds of hostilities.
The innovation lies in the fact that BMP burst firing installation performed under incendiary smoke cartridges in two sections set forth on both sides of the turret. Push-button control panel installation shooting burst firing is equipped with rigid and longitudinal series of its buttons relative bracket for fixing the hands stun about them.
Advanced infantry fighting vehicle equipped with flamethrowers or disposable rocket launchers, portable radios, optical day and night sights for the standard-issue weapons and flamethrowers and rocket launchers, flamethrowers or fastening device launchers are disposable, devices for fastening portable radios and optical sights in quantities that correspond to the number of landing infantry.
The results of some research and development work performed in KB, and infantry fighting vehicle range testing, showed that in the attack, as well as in the transition from offensive to defensive on untrained positions and from defense to attack, the combat effectiveness of the BMP-2 and its landing infantry when downsized from 7 to 4 persons was increased compared with the standard BMP-2 with its regular infantry troopers (7 people) on average three times.
On the BMP are placed 18-22 single-use flamethrowers, four portable radios, four optical sights, primarily nocturnal, and 24 smoke piercing cartridge with manual and electric start, hosted in two cntainers in the troop compartment, and on the turret of the fighting compartment of the machine-two partitions installation with burst firing 24-piercing/incendiary smoke cartridge with manual and electric start, push-button remote control shooting out of it located in the tower.
In advance prepared defensive positions the significantly greater efficiency and growth are due primarily to installing Salvo firing through which there is the option of attacking enemy orders suddenly and the disorienting and upsetting them.
The upgrade special sections were mounted on the turret of the machine on both sides with incendiary smoke cartridges, in each section is 12 rounds. Running can be done with a special push-button panel. Thanks to these sections it is possible to use smoke to disorient the advancing enemy units, and, if necessary, to regroup friendly forces.
The troop compartment on the starboard side placed special brackets , which are attached disposable grenade launchers or flamethrowers. The machine is capable of carrying 18 to 22 disposable flamethrowers and grenade launchers . As a result of placing the total number of troops from 7 to 4 people has been reduced. However, despite this, the overall efficiency of such a machine was estimated as three times higher than that of a normal BMP-2. In addition to other changes, in the back of the LMC-1 placed special brackets for transporting sets of comfortable life support machine crew.
Broad dissemination of the LMC-1 was not well received, and "Firebug" troops prefered to move around on the MT-LB.
