"Project Bubnov" battleship
The highest priority was given to the so-called "Project Bubnov." Arriving late in terms in the construction of the first series of ships with 305-mm artillery, Russia sought to reduce the gap, stepping over the 343mm and 356 mm calibers, and going directly to the caliber of 406 mm, even ignoring the 381 mm which in England was used on their last battleships. The Project of I.G.Bubnov provided for the installation of three large turrets, which in order to save weight were emplaced the 4 x 406-mm guns. With a displacement of 43,400 tons, the ship had a length of 235 meters [764 feet]. It was already "full-fledged" battleship with great prospects for more firepower than a half times superior to the British and American ships. Having the forecastle, he would have had a significant seaworthiness. But even here there was only a characteristic of Russia - the predominance of arms over the other elements.
