    Variants
  • K-73 (draft) - the initial version of the rocket was performed as a super-maneuverable rocket without aerodynamic controls.
  • K-73 - Standard model with ±40° off-boresight, the prototype of the production version. Tests since 1979
  • R-73 / R-73 RMD-1 - the name of the rocket after being put into service in 1984 - the first serial version of the rocket. Probably,
  • K-73E - Export version of the standard model with ±45° off-boresight, analogue of the R-73RMD-1 rocket, exported since 1988 (for example, to the GDR).
  • R-73L / R-73EL - a variant of a missile with an optical laser proximity fuse, first shown in August 1989 at the first Moscow air show. The missile is equipped with an optical laser fuse.
  • R-73M / R-73 RMD-2 - a variant of the rocket with improved performance characteristics and a new seeker (with characteristics of the Mayak seeker), first shown at the MAKS-1997 air show. According to data from the exhibition, tests of the rocket began at the end of 1994
  • K-74ME - export version of the R-73M rocket. First shown at the MAKS-1997 air show.
  • R-73K is the name of the R-73 missiles with a radar proximity fuse.
  • RVV-MD is an updated version of the R-73M / R-73 RMD-2 rocket. Developed by the Vympel GosMKB in the late 1990s - early 2000s.
