Army - Order of Battle
The Romanian Army order of battle is rather muddled. A division would normally consist of four or five manuver brigades, along with various other elements. By the year 2010 the Romanian Army was generally supposed to have 4 active and 3 reserve combat brigades, and two division headquarters, one active and the other reserve. Romania entered the new century with only two division headquarters. Some sources claim two divisions were the 1st and 2nd, but the overwhelming mass of evidence supports the proposition that the diviions are the 1st and 4th. The official Romanian Land Forces website reports the Army has three divisions [1st, 2nd and 4th). This reflects the formation of the 2nd Division in 2010, which included the 15th Mechanized "Podu Înalt" Brigade previously subordinated to the 4th Division, and the 9 Mechanized Brigade "Marasesti" and 282 Mechanized Brigade, previously subordinated to the 1st Division. The various other support units include both formations drawn from the other two divisions, as well as a few newly formed units.
