The Shenyang Military Region Air Force was originally established in 1950 as the Dongbei (Northeast) MRAF and was redesignated as the Shanyang MRAF in May 1955. The Shenyang Military Region Air Force is a campaign corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force stationed in the Shenyang Military Region. It is under the leadership of the Air Force and the Shenyang Military Region. Lead and command the air force units stationed in Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang Province and the eastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. On July 13, 1950, the Central Military Commission decided to establish the Air Force Command of the Northeast Military Region of the Chinese People's Liberation Army. On August 20, the Northeast Military Region Command Aviation Division, the Liaodong Military Region Command, the Political Department, and the West Liaoning Military Region Supply Department were established in Shenyang. The agency has a headquarters, political department, logistics department, engineering department, and cadre management department. On May 15, 1954, it was renamed the Northeast Military Region Air Force Department. On May 6, 1955, it was renamed the Shenyang Military Region Air Force Command. On May 25, 1957, it merged with the Shenyang Military Region Air Defense Air Force into the Shenyang Military Region Air Force. In February 1970, the military area air force agencies were reorganized into the headquarters, the political department, and the logistics department. In February 1976, the Aeronautical Engineering Department was added, and in September 1993, it was renamed the Equipment Technology Department. After the establishment of the Northeast Military Region, the air force organs quickly formed troops in accordance with the needs of homeland air defense and participation in the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. From October 1950 to August 1952, two air force divisions and six aviation divisions were formed. By the end of the 20th century, the Air Force of the Shenyang Military Region had developed into a combined army consisting of aviation, ground-to-air missiles, anti-aircraft artillery, radar, communications and other specialized forces.
