  • BAE Systems to Build Gun Systems for U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ships BAE Systems 20 Jan 2011 -- As the country's leading naval guns producer, BAE Systems will provide the primary gun systems on 10 U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) to be built by the Lockheed Martin-led team. BAE Systems will equip the 10 ships with 57 millimeter Mk 110 gun systems.
  • Boeing C-17 Program Enters 2nd Phase of Production Rate and Work Force Reductions Boeing 20 Jan 2011 -- As part of a transition announced last year, Boeing [NYSE: BA] today confirmed it will deliver 13 C-17 Globemaster III airlifters in 2011 as the company moves to a new production rate of 10 C-17s per year. Boeing will reduce the production program's work force by approximately 1,100 jobs through the end of 2012. The company delivered 14 C-17s in 2010.
  • Boeing Confirms P-8A Poseidon Airframe's Structural Integrity with Full Scale Static Tests Boeing 20 Jan 2011 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] today announced that it completed full scale static testing of the P-8A Poseidon’s airframe on Jan. 7. The series of tests, which began in May 2009, confirmed the airframe's structural integrity.
  • Lockheed Martin Receives $218 Million for Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) Demonstrations Lockheed Martin 20 Jan 2011 -- Lockheed Martin [NYSE:LMT] has received two contracts totaling $218 million for the Demonstration Phase of the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency’s (DARPA) Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) program.
  • Raytheon Opens New Facility at Aberdeen Proving Ground Raytheon 20 Jan 2011 -- Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN) has opened a new facility collocated with the U.S. military to enhance collaboration and industrial teaming on warfighter technologies and systems.
  • Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Successfully Boosts Heavy-Lift Vehicle Carrying a Government Satellite Pratt & Whitney 20 Jan 2011 -- Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne today helped boost a government satellite for the U.S. government, demonstrating its heavy-lift capabilities and continued support of national security. The satellite was onboard a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket, powered by three Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne RS-68 booster engines and one upper-stage RL10B-2 engine. The Delta IV Heavy launched for the first time from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, becoming the largest rocket ever launched from the West Coast. Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company.
  • Rheinmetall and the Dutch Army conclude framework ammunition supply agreement Rheinmetall Defence 20 Jan 2011 -- The Rheinmetall Group of Düsseldorf, Germany, has concluded a framework agreement with the Royal Dutch Armed Forces to supply the Netherlands with a wide array of different ammunition types. The anticipated order volume over a 10-year period is €200 million.
  • SAIC's Defense Solutions Group Successfully Renews CMMI(R) Level 5 Rating SAIC 20 Jan 2011 -- Science Applications International Corporation (NYSE: SAI) today announced that its Defense Solutions Group (DSG) has achieved the Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration(R) for Development (CMMI-DEV) Maturity Level 5 rating. This is the highest possible attainable rating for benchmarking commercial and defense industry best practices and mature processes for systems and software management and engineering. These repeatable processes can help reduce risk, manage cost, improve technical delivery, and meet demanding schedules.
  • U.S. Navy Renews Successful Helicopter Logistics Program with $1.4B Follow-on Contract Sikorsky 20 Jan 2011 -- The Maritime Helicopter Support Company, a joint venture of Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] and Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. [NYSE: UTX], has received a $1.4 billion firm fixed price contract from the U.S. Navy to continue providing performance-based logistics support for more than 490 in-service H-60 SEAHAWK® helicopters.
