- Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche Joint Program Office Officially Opens in Huntsville, Alabama Boeing 01 Aug 2000 -- The Boeing Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche Joint Program Office (JPO) officially opened in Huntsville, Ala. Officials from Boeing, Sikorsky and the U.S. Army's Aviation and Missile Command joined representatives from the city, county and state, Comanche team members and the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber of Commerce at a ribbon-cutting ceremony and dedication to mark the opening.
- General Dynamics Wins $91 Million Navy Contract for Battlespace Management Program General Dynamics 01 Aug 2000 -- General Dynamics Advanced Technology Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a $91 million contract by the U.S. Navy to provide engineering and manufacturing development for the Area Air Defense Commander (AADC) Capability Program.
- Significant New Hellfire II Capability Nears Delivery To U.S. Navy Lockheed Martin 01 Aug 2000 -- The first major new variant of the AGM-114 Hellfire missile in 10 years will shortly complete qualification testing at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Identified as the AGM-114M, the new missile incorporates a blast fragmentation warhead and delay fuze in the proven Hellfire II airframe.
- Lockheed Martin's HIMARS Participates in Joint-Service Exercises Lockheed Martin 01 Aug 2000 -- The High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) performed exceptionally well in on-going joint training exercises between the artillery communities of Ft. Bragg, N.C., and Camp Lejeune, N.C. The U.S. Army's 18th Field Artillery (FA) Brigade (Airborne) conducted a flyaway deployment exercise involving HIMARS being airlifted to the U.S. Marine Corps' Camp Lejeune from 26 July through 2 August.
