MIUW Unit 109

The primary mission of the Coastal Warfare Force is to provide surface and subsurface surveillance in inshore areas throughout the world." The "Secondary Mission" capabilities include command, control & communications functions. Naval Coastal Warfare Group ONE and TWO, comprised of MIUW, HDC and IBU provide the sole capability for this mission in the U.S. Navy.
