Inshore Boat Unit Thirteen
IBU 13
Inshore Boat Unit Thirteen provides an afloat, armed, high speed barrier to protect U.S. Navy and Joint Expeditionary Warfare Forces from at-sea threats. These highly capable craft and crews are also able to conduct surveillance target classification and the laying of sonobouys and the Littoral Array Sub-System.
In March 1999, IBU-13 took part in Northern Edge 99, providing force protection and port security.
On June 15, 2001 IBU-13 departed for the Persian Gulf to provide force protection to naval assets. The unit returned in October 2001.
