Inshore Boat Unit Twelve
IBU 12
Inshore Boat Unit 12 is a commissioned reserve unit, a part of the Naval Coastal Warfare community. IBU-12 provides waterside force protection for other United States and Allied forces utilizing the Navy's Inshore Patrol craft and highly trained crews. We work in conjunction with other NCW forces, typically a MIUWU (Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit) and/or a HDC (Harbor Defense Command). Our unit is completely mobile, and can be readily deployed anywhere in the world.
IBU 12 was commissioned on 6 December 1994.
Currently, in support of Anti-Terrorism and Homeland Defense, IBU-12 is mobilized for Operations Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom, and has deployed in the Puget Sound Region providing defense for the various Naval installations and homeported or visiting ships.
