Army Materiel Command-Forward South West Asia [AMC FWD-SWA] coordinates, integrates and synchronizes all Army Materiel Command (AMC) activities in the Central Command (CENTCOM) area of operations during times of peace and war. Serves as the CENTCOM and ARCENT Commanders' single point of contact for Army Materiel Command support operations within their area of responsibility. Promotes APS-5 readiness by directing the activities of Combat Equipment Battalion-Kuwait and Combat Equipment Battalion-Qatar. Responsible for receipt, storage, cyclic maintenance, repair, accountability, and configuration of APS-5 prepositioned equipment and supplies. Oversees maintenance and property accountability programs to ensure operational readiness of APS-5 materiel for use by CENTCOM during contingencies or exercises.
In August 2000 ITT Federal Services International Corp., Colorado Springs, Colo., was awarded $568,166 as part of a $52,742,796 firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-incentive-fee, and cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. This win firmly re-established ITT Industries in the Middle East as a premier contractor supporting the U.S. Army. The value of this contract is expected to increase dramatically over time as the United States policy toward deployment of troops and equipment shifts from other locations in the Middle East to Qatar
The contractor provides maintenance and supply/services of Army prepositioned stocks at Army Materiel Command-Forward Southwest Asia, Combat Equipment Group-Southwest Asia. This contract award covers transition planning and execution and ten single-year-evaluated options available through FY2010. Work will be performed in Doha, Qatar, and is expected to be completed by Nov. 30, 2010. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. ITT Industries, Systems Division provides maintenance and supply services support to the Army Materiel Command (Forward) - Southwest Asia (AMC FWD SWA). Project personnel perform scheduled and unscheduled services and repairs of war reserve combat and tactical vehicles, weapon systems, engineer/special purpose equipment, and communications and electronics equipment. This includes vehicles ranging in size from the HMMWV to the M1A1 Abrams tank. It also includes organizational through general support levels of maintenance. Project supply personnel manage all of the war reserve wholesale assets in Qatar, to include ammunition and medical items. Personnel assigned to the project include combat and tactical vehicle mechanics, weapons/armament technicians, supply technicians, and clerks and information management administrators.
